Shelley Gupta’s music touches her listeners with a familiarity that few new artists ever achieve. Her voice is smooth and soulful and her songs resonate with audiences of all ages. Shelley Gupta sets out to write songs that combine the richness of her R&B and world music influences with her love for melody and lyrics with a strong message.
Her first public performance was at the age of 9, where she sang with a group of children on “The Rita McNeil Show†(CBC) along with Raffi. Her love for the stage has lead her to perform at countless events including the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala’s, Omni TV Fundraiser for Tsunami Relief, the Miss India-Canada wide Pageant, which aired on Asian Television Network and most recently at this years RBC’s Desifest 2008.
Now 23, Shelley is currently promoting her debut CD with rave reviews from audiences and music industry professionals alike. This new artist is striking a cord with the youth and adult market and as a result is creating quite a buzz in the Canadian Music scene.
Knowing that the music industry is indeed a business, Shelley possesses the rare combination of creative talents and business acumen. A graduate of Business Management from the University of Toronto, Shelley has the skills necessary to succeed in an industry climate where taking control of one’s own career is more and more important.
