Grand Supreem

About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.1
Grand Supreem has had a long career in the under ground hip-hop and dancehall scenes of Dallas, Texas. A founding member of the seminal 90's Rap Group I.G.P., he has always been adventurous in fusing styles. "Hip-Hop to me is juss American Dance Hall, it's all about dat drum, dat bass, and dat m.c. who a master di ceremony"-Grand Supreem.
Grand Supreem is in fact the third alter ego of this artist. "Originally I was known as Mikey Cultcha, because people was lacking Cultcha. Then I went solo, and see say di people dem sick, so I became Docta Ling. Now is the 21st century an a pure secret society a run di world, so we a mek dem know say we have we own clique, and my title and degree and level is the Grand Supreem. Wi come fi manifest Jah pon Earth. Music for me has always been a labour of love, and a means of communicating with the people, but mi come fi get my pay now too. If I do my master's work I must receive my master's wage" -Grand Supreem.
Right now Grand Supreem is concentrating on doing more underground club bangers that the international D.J. set will appreciate. This is the primary philosophy behind his Hydroponic Sound System collaborations. 'Hydro to me represents the foundation of the fusion. A time when Dance Hall influence through man like Cool Herc in the mid 70's to early 80's in the Bronx who help create the modern Hip-Hop culture we all enjoy. I love that era, and the freedom the producers and m.c.s of that time exhibited. True dat, we try to capture that essence in all the Hydroponic Sound System Projects"-Grand Supreem.
The next step is a full length album and a few remixes/mash-ups. These are scheduled for release next spring/summer. On this album Grand Supreem will have special guests like the underground favorites; Money Waters, Anthony Jade, & Ramzi Di Great. "The Album will let the world know say noise is being made down ina Texas, and wi come fi express wi own WORD, SOUND & POWER."-Grand Supreem.

Drawing inspiration and vibes from “Microphone Fiend”’s original production, Hydro’s beat is a straight ahead kick-and-snare reggae production that evokes Sly and Robbie’s middle period style of production, while Grand Supreem stays on cue to Rakim’s original lyrics while injecting his own signature, patois-inflected style to the cut
