About Me

MARC JOHNSON
Marc first got into dance music at the tender age of 18 when some of his mates dragged him down to the infamous Lazerdrome in Peckham, 8 hours later and after several bottles of water the clubbing bug was installed,it wasnt till a few months later when Marc went along to Lydd Airport to World Dance where he saw the way the djs could control thousands of peoples emotions that he thought that it was something he would love to do.
So after buying a crappy pair of decks and hours and hours of practice marc got his first gig 8 months later and began playing the smaller clubs up and down the country culminating in 2nd room (or tent) bookings for Helter Skelter and Fusion.
Marc became disillusioned with the direction the hardcore scene went in the late 90s and turned his back on the music when he felt it lost its balls and started searching out new styles of music after deciding not to sell his beloved 1210s,so one afternoon in victoria and several Tinrib,DPs and Alien Traxs later and a lighter wallet Marc had stumbled accross a sound that had the energy, grit and rawness he was looking for.
So back at square one the demo tapes as they were then were being knocked up and posted out then one afternoon after a chance meeting with Billy Bunter in a london HMV marc was given the number of D'Zyne by Daniel, Marc went in with D'Zyne to make I aint Gonna Wait and dance outta control what Daniel signed to Action records and Marc has never looked back since and has had 50 releases to date(with plenty more signed ready for release) and stuff signed to labels Action,Splitscreen,Cut N Dry,12 Inch Thumpers Hard,BabyDoll,Toolbox,Elasticman,Hardsounds,Recharge,Infecti ous,Brain Damage,Vicious Circle,Tripoli Trax,Passion and Energy UK Marc decided to form his own label with friend Jupe and FlashPoint records was born, after a string of successfull releases the powers at be at the legendary Tripoli Trax label were keeping an eye on Marcs progress and in Dec of 2003 marc was offered the vacant job as A+R man at Tripoli Trax following in the massive footsteps left by Steve Thomas and Steve Hill.
For the early part of Marcs journey he concentrated on building his profile as a producer in order to make himself more appealing to clubs up and down the country, marc has played or has upcoming dates for Heat,Tronic,Bedlam,Insekt,After Hours,Sectioned,HouseWives Choice,Frantic,Kinetic,Feelin of Life,Recharge Tour nights,Vicious Circles Heaven event in conjunction with Frantic,Total Mayhem,Hardware,Intreverse,Another world,Toolbox tour nights, wake up,RAW,Rehab,Milk,U4RIA,XLR8,Milk,Rush,Seed,Transcend,Fushia ,Brathe,Endorphin,XTortion,Ultim-8,Godskitchen,Gatecrasher,S torm and Fidget.Marc has also played over seas for Industry in Auckland New Zealand at New Years Eve 2003,Ibizan Heat in 2004, 3 dates in New Zealand 2004 and 2 dates in Tokyo,Japan in April 2005 aswell as Canada in Nov 2005 and 2 gigs in Australia in Oct 2006.
October 2004 saw Marc enter the world of promoting along with friends George E,Pete Rothy and Allen TG to form the now powerfull brand that is known as INSEKT. While partners of the brand has come and gone Marc is the only original member to have seen it through from humble beginnings at Fire to an upcoming birthday party at the Fridge and an INSEKT tour of Australia.
The club has gone from strength to strength with many of the scenes heavyweights like Andy Farley,Paul Glazby and Nick sentience making appearances. To firmly establish INSEKT as a mainstay in the Hard House calendar.
Whats next for Marc? Who knows but you can be sure hell be working hard helping to keep a sound hes so passionate about alive for years to come.
