Inspired, M-Town quickly fell in love with music, but remembers when growing up in his mothers household rap music was not tolerated. His adaption to jazz, old school, and blues would later on turn out to be a very important factor in his life growing up for his age. Remembering when all the kids in his neighborhood could listen to hip-hop he was stuck with the best of old school. With time he was finally able to listen to the music of his choice even though some rules still applied (no curse words). Missing out on a lot of rap & hip-hop, M-Town quickly began to catch up to all his peers. To his surprise his grandfather William Carey (R.I.P.) introduced him to one of the best mc's out of Memphis to this day, Playa Fly. With so much interest and love for music he to began to write and practice his own lyrics. Starting at the age of 12 years old, he made a decision to always keep music in his life. Never giving up on music, because music never gave up on him. On a non-stop path, M-Town chose music over everything even sports. As his main hobby, M-Town constantly wrote and practiced his lyrics over and over again when there was spare time. Scared of criticism, no one not even his family knew he rapped. Determined by his intuition to become a MC, he finally began to showcase his talent to family and friends. Being told that he indeed had talent and never give up his dream only gave him more motivation. From listening to so many different artist styles no matter where they were from, the young south rapper began to polish up on his own style. His creativity used a little bit of east, west and most importantly dirty south favors. Combining a laid back/crunk style, he finally began to master his style. His name M-Town was chosen because of his representation and love for his city Memphis, Tenn-A-Key. No matter where he went he always told people about Memphis, especially when he went into the military. Telling them that Memphis is like the big apple, because we never sleep, crunk is what crunk does. People heard about Memphis so much they started calling him M-Town/Mr. Tenn-A-Key and for 7 years he has carried the name proudly. Representing all parts of Memphis from the Bay Area, North Memphis, South Memphis, Orange Mound, Hollywood, Hyde Park, Blackhaven, the Raleigh area, and even Bartlett because of his close connection to these areas. Going 13 years in the paint he continues his passion for music without worrying about the fortune and fame (I just like music). Believing that the people are more important than the spotlight, because without the people you can't succeed no matter how good you are. M-Town's dreams have already began to come true with just being able to produce music. One day someone will notice me and except me for what I am, an all around dirty south representer until I die.
