About Me

Klyd Watkins began writing poetry in the sixties, in his twenties and publishing poems in the literary magazines of the day; Red Clay Reader, Poem, et al. In 1965, Peter Harleman convinced him that they should make poetry on audio tape recorders rather than on paper. And for about ten years they did just that. Linda and Klyd Watkins with Peter and Patricia Harleman produced and released ten LP's called Poetry Out Loud.
Rumors of these records are buried around the internet. During this period Klyd and his wife Linda were also, with Toby and Ginny Tate, recording in a group called Solar Squash. Klyd moved to Nashville in 1980 and spent a few years playing bass and occasionally singing in honky tonk bar bands. Then he swore off on poetry and music and for a few years attempted responsible living. This wore off by 1990 when he began writing poetry again, back on paper.
But sometimes at Open Mics around Nashville there would be a guitarist, and Klyd found he still enjoyed doing poetry to music. Soon he had recorded LISTEN THE NIGHT with Mike Panasuk, and had done poetry on stage with The Screamin Cheetah Wheelies. In 2004 he built a serious recording studio in his back yard. The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies final CD TEN MILES HIGH was recorded there.
So was HARP ALL MADE OF GOLD.
And there is much to follow.
