Born in Denver, Colorado, Mr. Franklin began his career performing in the Scott United Methodist Church Drama Group and as a member of the Joyful Voices Youth Choir. He began flowing at the age of 9 after being influenced by his uncle, who is a rapper, EM3, and his Dad, who is also a rapper, Dank Emcee. Not only a rapper, but also a musician, SF1 plays a variety of percussion instruments and also tap dances. As a long time student of Cleo Parker Rocinson Dance, he recently recieved the Morning Star Award for excellence. He has trained with the late Betty Ryer, John "Mr. Tap Dance" Williams, Judy "Fatu" Henderson, Stephan Griffin, Jo Bunton Keel and Cleo Parker Robinson. As an actor, drummer and dancer, Mr. Franklin has appeared in such productions as "Porgy and Bess", "Spirit of Time" and the Eulipions "Black Nativity". He is founder of Tega's Percussionary Groove Session and Whymzical Notaions "all genre" Band, co-founder of Heavy Hitter's Percussion Squad, a member of the Heritage African Dance and Drum Collective, and a member of the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts. In the winter of 2006, Mr. Franklin celebrated his sixth year with "Granny Dances to a Holiday Drum" and his third year as "Spirit of the Drum" in that production. In 2007 he graduated with honors from the Denver School of the Arts and continues his education at Berklee College of Music.
