Band Website: www.bartholomewfaire.com
Band Members: The current Bart Faire core ensemble features: Stefan Dollak (voice, pipe & tabor, hurdy-gurdies, lute, recorder, mandolin, assorted medieval winds and things); Louis Rodriguez (bagpipe, citole, percussion, occasional voice and other fun noisemakers); Danielle Franklin (voice, harp and occasional pipe & tabor); Renee Guillory (voice and percussion); David Newton (exotic percussive support). The extended Bart Faire family features: Heather Rene Dollak, Jim De Fazio, Robin Rio, Valarie Vousden, Irene Rosenthal.Others who have played under the auspices of Bart Faire: John Vousden, Jeffrey Davey, Debra Jo Davey, Ty Hadley, Monika Kinstler, Curtis Taber, Amy Haltom, Harry Fisher, Jill Knapp, Jeremy Moskowitz, Rob Edsall.
Influences: Bartholomew Faire is influenced by the distant past, this very moment, and the not too distant future... Everyone in the band brings their own particular influences to bear on the resulting music we make. Therefore, there's not enough "my"space to catalogue our complete influences. To be brief:Stefan brings his classical/folk/'60s-'70s British folk-rock/early music background to the fore when performing. Listen closer to hear those touches of Jethro Tull, Beatles, Gene Krupa, the Incredible String Band, Doo-Wop and other musica esoterica.Louis reveals his Latino roots with hints of flamenco and mariachi, and somtimes you can hear his preference for Arab-Andalusian styles as well as '80s industrial.Danielle sometimes lets her classic Disco-era R&B upbringing come out, slightly obscuing the fact that she has had serious classical training. Her voice is where Whitney Houston, Vaughan Williams and Queensryche meet.
Sounds Like: A medieval renaissance early baroque andalusian jazz folk rock fusion group from the 13th through 17th centuries.
Record Label: Astrolabe Records
