About Me

VIGOR ONLINE INTERVIEW WITH HUNGRY ENT. CEO "PHENOM"With some of its members relocating to ATL, Hungry Entertainment has not lost its appetite for success. Aside from the relocation, the company recently earned the best duo/group award at the Central PA Hip Hop Awards. Founded in 2002 by Phenom and Nat King, the Harrisburg-based multimedia company consists of five solo artists and three producers. Hungry Entertainment offers production, studio time, music video, DVD, marketing and graphic design services. Internships are also available for anyone looking for production experience. In this spotlight section, we holla at Hungry Entertainment member Phenom to talk about the company's eye candy—the Hungry Entertainment models. Phenom also addresses other issues in Star City (a nickname for Harrisburg that Hungry Entertainment uses).Q: Who came up with the idea for the Hungry Entertainment models?A: You can credit J Riley for that one. J Riley handles all the Hungry Entertainment model stuff: film, video and photography. He got some real innovative photo shoots planned for the future, and you should be seeing more of Hungry Entertainment models in print, runway and video.Q: Is Illasquad Studios still operated under Hungry Entertainment and 15designs.com?A: Hungry Entertainment and 15designs.com are two totally different entities. 15designs is our graphic designer who does most of the CD covers, posters, DJ Odini mixtape covers and all that good stuff. We did collab on www.idubmixtape.com, a Web site where you can get all the latest Odini, IllaSquad and other Star City artists' mixtapes. It is about creating our own little industry within Star City. We got all the talent right here.Q: Did you make a profit since your company was established?A: "Illeat Mixtape Vol. I" moved over 250 units the first four days [not to mention] the samplers/single we was selling before we released it. We couldn't press [the CDs] up fast enough. "Star City Finest" had a sold-out album release party. The bouncer said he probably turned about 100 people away. Besides the music, we got Nat and D-Black feeding the block with them beats. We do duplication service for CDs, IllaSquad Studios and even dabble in fashion with Dernier Cri and Newsense Clothing. It takes a lot of money to incorporate, get the latest equipment, market and promote, and fund all of these projects. But to answer your question, IllaSquad doing pretty good, but we still hungry.--Leon Laing
