About Me

A native of Buffalo, New York, Taleesha Janine Scott began her study of voice in 2001 under the guidance of Ms. Barbara Cooper. Ms. Scott studied at the Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts, graduating with honors in 2002. She recently received her Bachelors of Music degree in Voice Performnance at the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University. She is a three-time winner of the Buffalo Chapter of the NAACP ACT-SO Competition in the categories of Vocal Classical and Contemporary. She is also the first-place winner of the National NAACP ACT-SO Competition in the category of Vocal Classical, in 2002. She is the 2nd place winner of the well known regional Leontyne Price competition, 2005. Ms. Scott has performed backup for Kenny Roger’s Christmas Show, in 2001and 2002 and has been a featured soloist at the Shea's Performing Arts Center in Buffalo NY for the annual celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. She is also a participant of The Juilliard Experience. She played the role of Cissie Woodger in the Peabody Opera Theater's production of Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring in fall 2002.Ms. Scott was the Soprano soloist in Camille Saint Saens Christmas Oratorio in December 2004, with Buffalo Opera Unlimited conducted by Tim Kennedy. She sang the role of Naiad in an un-staged production of Ariadne auf Naxos with the Peabody Institute Conductor’s Department. She also performed the role of Nannetta in the Peabody Main stage production of Verdi’s Falstaff in November 2005. Currently she is pursuing a Masters degree in Vocal Pedagogy/Performance at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA.
