All I want to do with my time is work on Festivals - if you can ever use an extra hand, hit me up! Very keen indeed.
I made it to 30, now living in Brisneyland (ex-RADelaide) in Australia. I work in an office and that's always been my day job, but I did ten years as a volunteer community broadcaster in RADelaide at Three D Radio. I know music and I love music. I sing, but i've never learnt an instrument.
Okay, after reading some other folks profiles I feel I should elaborate...
I moved to Brisbane in October 2004, previous to that I lived in RADelaide, South Australia.
Adelaide sure knows how to put on a festival and I volunteered and worked on so many of them including the Big Day Out (doing crowd care), Adelaide Fringe Festival (helping out where I could at launches et al), Amnesty's Freedom Festival 04 (artist liaison), many of the radio station's events such as Radiothon and the 21st birthday party (a blast if i do say so myself), and the Fuse Festival (assisting the volunteer coordinators and doing some general admin stuff).
In Bristanbul I've been involved in two Straight Out Of Brisbane Festivals and now St Jerome's Laneway and also over new years this year at the Falls Festival in Taswegia! YAY!
People have sometimes said that they have never met anyone quite like me that just puts their hand up and is willing to do stuff for free.
Well there are a few reasons. I usually get to meet someone I'm fond of from the music industry or arts industry (ref: Brassy, Buck 65, Adam Hills, Tripod). You always make new friends. When it's over you feel like you've contributed something to society that can make people feel good about the talent in their city. You will have laughed, cried (and possibly hurled) your way through whatever the event is. And I always tend to leave an event with a smile on my face.
