About Me
My name is Jerrit Ashley. First of all I would like to say thanks for taking some of your time to overlook my material. I'm a 21 year old Native American thriving in the city of Flagstaff, Arizona. Before I lived here, there were a lot of different places that I considered home. Some were nice, quiet or peaceful locations. Others were usually loud with drunks everywhere & a dirty environment. Drugs and Alcohol were always in my surroundings when I lived on the reservation. Not long afterwards, I moved to a different city where I can get a better education. I went to school for most of my adolescent life and when I reached my junior level in high school, I dropped out and graduated with a GED.I am and have been interested in a career with music. The area I have the most interest is; being a Rap Artist. Career-wise for me, it's about being at the top of the list at all times and being the best. I could care less about making a lot of money or being famous as an Artist. I would just like to make money based on doing what I love doing and I love the Rap & Hip-Hop Industry. I want to get there and get as far into the business as I possibly can. Rap music has been a part of my life since I was 6 years old. Ever since it has been introduced to me I always listened to it. Its not only Rap that I like, I also like all other genres of music as well. Rap music is a big part of my life and I want it to go much further than just listening to it. I am ready to move on the next step by getting signed or recognized as an Artist. Also, being a singer is a part of my blood. My Grandfather, Ed Lee Natay, was a famous traditional Native American singer, who was signed through Canyon Records as their first recording artist. He's well known on the Native American Reservations and has had 2 different albums out. About half century later, Canyon grew into one of the top producers of Native American recordings with a catalog that includes more than 600 albums. I think his CD's sound great for the genre of music it is. Unfortunately in the year of 1966 he was deceased. My Grandmother, Lillian Ashley, from my father's side is also a Native American singer. She's a part of a group named the "Sweethearts of Navajoland". They have had 3 U.S. CD Releases & she composed many of the songs they had. So I have a strong history of music behind me and I am looking to continue the flow of music in my bloodline.I am driven by all the artists that are out there. Some may not sound good at all, some sound excellent. The rapper that started me off to love Rap music would be the well known, Snoop Dogg. My current favorite Rap Artist is Eminem and hope someday I will be able to work with him, as well as other big names in music. I know that it'll be a lot of hard work, but, I have enough inspiration to push me there.Other than artists, my family supports me in everything I do. They tell me I have the talent and I need to have my talents shared and presented. They believe in me and always tell me to get my music recorded. I also have a daughter, that's another part of my life that compels me to take another step closer to my goal. A lot of the people that I work with also cheer me on to complete my demo CD, go to American Idol, etc,. Everyone that pushes me to keep going and get my music out there, are my inspirations. With the motivation I have now, I'm sure to gain success. This is a dream I've had for the longest time and by taking this next step, I look forward to making it true. The type of music I put out is about how the world is. Not that it just spins in circles, orbits the sun, but everything that happens on it. From deaths to parties, funerals to clubs. If I have something to say about a specific problem, event, person or anything. I'll write it out in a song. I'm more of a writer than a freestyle artist. Both would be a valuable attribute, so I practice. I can make my rhymes funny, strange, true, serious, inspiring, or just random. I try to mix a lot of different things in my rhymes. From different tones to different voice imitations. If I think it'll make the track sound better I'm not scared to experiment a little bit. Sometimes risks have to be taken to make things better and I am not scared of taking any risks.More about me:
I like pretty much anyone who is interested in me. I like to play sports, I like to try new things doesn't matter what it is I'll try it. I am a crazy, mellow, and calm person. I'm one who enjoys making people laugh. I like to sing anywhere and everywhere i go. I write music and poems. The type of music i like the most is Rap and Rock, everything other type of music I DO like as long as it doesn't suck, AND there has to be words in it. I also enjoy living, It an be fun a majority of the time. But if ever times are low an the steam is clouding out my ears, I just lay back an listen to therapy or.... Music.. Music is basically my way of just getting away from everything. An for me an solve a lot of things i go through. An if music doesn't solve it.. Then i write it. Write, write, write I like to write an Mainly because I'm not that much of a good speaker, But when the pen an the pad meet, The best comes out from me.What my name means:
The name of Jerrit creates a very aggressive and independent nature, one with big ambitions, giving you original, progressive, large-scale ideas, salesmanship and promotional ability as well as the excellent business judgment which enables you to gain the financial accumulation to which you feel entitled. You have a versatile, restless nature, and could do any job well, although you would not like to do menial tasks. You are seldom satisfied and are always seeking something new. Although the name Jerrit causes an active mind and a restless urge to explore new ideas, we emphasize that it causes an unscrupulous, materialistic approach that frustrates higher humanitarian qualities.
