About Me

POG MO THON - 1. - pogue mahone. verb. Gaelic translation to kiss one's rear end. 2. - noun. An Irish Rock Legend in the making from Omaha, Nebraska.
March 17, 2006 - Pog Mo Thon was created. Since then, we've entertained thousands of people across the Heartland of the United States of America. We entertain many more via the internet. Pog Mo Thon began as a favor for a friend who owned a bar, Buffoon's Comedy Club, in the Old Market in Downtown Omaha, NE. Two members of the now defunct Irish Folk band Aisling's Bards and two members of the extinct Metal band Obsidian Empire, forged together to help out a mutual friend for St. Patrick's day. They learned an hour's worth of Irish Music in a month's time. Needless to say, it wasn't enough time. The show had to go on.... ... and it was terrible. Someone in the audience shouted out, "YOU GUYS SUCK!!!!" ... the fiddler turned to the man in the crowd and simply replied, "POG MO THON!" Little did the rude audience member know that he had a hand in helping name us.
PMT is a seven piece Irish Rock band. Their repertoire includes over 6 hours worth of music that ranges from traditional Irish, Irish Rock covers, and originals. PMT has a wide array of instruments that gives them that unique sound. These instruments include guitars, mandolin, fiddle, a selection of tribal percussion instruments, harmonica, bass guitar, keyboards, and the rest is a secret...you'll just have to see them live to figure it out! They are loud, they are crazy, and they will keep you on your feet all night long with their musicianship, showmanship and their tongue-in-cheek humor.
