Production in the genre of contemporary gospel music often does not favor the lead guitarist, choosing instead to feature organ, piano, or bass guitar. Rare is the guitarist with the ability to carve out a niche for himself in this creative environment. Darryl Dixon has not only created such a niche, but his extraordinary ear for adding just the right lick to a song has made him an essential part of any production on which he serves.
Picking up the lead guitar while a sophomore in high school, Dixon quickly developed a reputation for rarely being seen without his instrument. That passion for playing has earned him an impressive list of experiences as a studio musician and live performer.
Since becoming a regular member of the Face to Face Productions staff in 1992, Dixon has performed on several major releases, including The Inner Court (Fred Hammond & Radical for Christ), Dawkins & Dawkins (Dawkins and Dawkins), Shakin the HouseLive in L.A. (featuring Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams, and Hezekiah Walker).
Dixons ability to quickly create catchy guitar hooks has made him a valuable part of the Face to Face touring team as well. Over the past four years, Dixon has toured throughout the world with Commissioned, Fred Hammond & Radical for Christ, and more. Never one to blend into the background, he always excites audiences with his extreme visual playing style and self-choreographed routines on stage.
Dixons hectic touring schedule does not prevent him from playing in local church services whenever he has time. His commitment to ministry in the church continues to be a valuable part of his life.
