DAMIEN'S INTERESTS ...
GENERAL
JAYNE MANSFIELD
I am a HUGE fan and admirer of Jayne Mansfield. She's hot! She's cute! She's got an IQ of 163! She's got a 40 inch bust! She was a proud mother of 5children
(left to right) Mickey Hargitay Jr., Jayne Mansfield, Tony Cimber, Jayne Marie Mansfield, Mariska Hargitay, Zoltan
Hargitay.whom she raised successfully. She can act, model, sing, and dance... and she lovesLas Vegas
JAYNE BUSTS UP LAS VEGAS!
Jayne enjoys the nightlife and her fans in Downtown Las Vegas on 2nd and Fremont Street in front of Binion's Horseshoe (left) and the Fremont Hotel and Casino (right).
My favorite career highlight of Jayne's was when she was doing casino stage-show entertainment with her husband Mickey Hargitay (a.k.a. Mr. Universe) in Las Vegas from 1958-1962 and 1966. She performed at casinos such as the Tropicana, the Dunes, and the Fremont. Jaynes act consistently sold out nightly. Her 1966 show at the Fremont consisted of her "satire on strip-tease" act. Before Mickey Hargitay became Mr. Mansfield he performed in the Mae West Show from 1954-1957. This show was hosted at the Latin Quarter in New York City and also at the Sahara Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
! The sexiest blond bombshell of all time! Man-Oh-Man-Oh-Mansfield! What's not to like about her? She's top shelf as well as a class act. The fact that she is sexy, but still a class act is one of the things that attracts me the most to her. Without any one of these characteristics I have mentioned above, Jayne Mansfield wouldn't be Jayne Mansfield. This being so, all together, is why she is very special and unique to me. She will always remain close to my heart. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to be able to visit and pay my respects to her every-so-often, as she rests peacefully at a beautiful secluded cemetery in Pen Argyl PA only a couple hours away from me.
In 1958 Jayne Mansfield appears in Monte Prowser's Tropicana Holiday show at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas NV.

LAS VEGAS
My favorite place to vacation is Las Vegas. I've been going there since 1994. Las Vegas is also my favorite town because it continuously is a city that progresses into the future and makes history every decade that passes. Even though it seems that it has been in existance 'forever' it is still a very young town. Established by the Mormons in 1905, that makes Las Vegas only 103 years old. My favorite area of Las Vegas is North Las Vegas because that's where it all began. The Downtown Casino District is where the REAL neon lights are, and how it lights up at night is quite a sight. Walking up Fremont Street at night and looking at the bright neon and watching the animated lightbulbs come to life on signs such as The Famous Pioneer, Vegas Vic, Binions, the Fremont, the Four Queens and the El Cortez is what I like the most about staying Downtown.

My Las Vegas Trips: Tropicana (1994), MGM Grand (1998, 1999), Venetian (2000,2002), Bally's Paris (2001), Treasure Island (2004,2005), Mirage (2006), Four Queens (2007), Fremont (2007).

BLACKJACK AND BLACKJACK CARD COUNTING
My favorite casino game is Blackjack. My favorite casinos to play in are any that offer TRADITIONAL Blackjack rules. 6:5 isn't Blackjack, it's "Crapjack". Yeah, the numbers "6" and "5" are greater than "3" and "2" but do the math and you'll see 6:5 payout is less than 3:2. Of course the casino isn't going to point you to the game with the least house advantage on their casino floor, so play at your own risk. I've taken up card counting for about 3 years, as a side hobby, and it's been fun and made for some interesting stories and memories on my previous Vegas trips. The biggest challenge of card counting is not the counting itself, but doing it and being able to get away with it without the casino noticing.
PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES BASEBALL (AKA:SILLIES BASEBALL)
WARNING! This Team stinks folks!
When it comes to the stinkin' Phillies there isn't much to talk about. They have only won 1 World Series in franchise history, 1980. They get smoked every year. I guess that's why they named cigars after them? I have been to the 1993 Division LCS (2 games) between the Phillies and the Braves as well as the 1993 World Series games (2 games) between the Phillies and the BlueJays. The World Series that everyone will remember: Mitch Williams in game 6 serving up the homerun ball to Joe Carter that made the Toronto Blue Jays world champs. What a bummer! Atleast I whitnessed the only year in which the Phillies actually kicked the Braves ass. I was at game 6 of the 93' LCS game at Veterans Stadium which the Phillies won to make them NL Division Champs. The Phillies won that series 4 games to 2.
BOWLING
Jayne steps over the foul line while she demonstrates excellent bowling form (hey now).
I love bowling. I am very competitive and try my best to play every game to win. What's the point of finishing last? Any Joe can do that. I am currently a member of the Wednesday Night Mixed Birds League at Cherry Hill Playdrome Bowling Center. I currently average between a 172 and a 182. My goal is to improve to a 190/200 average and bowl in the more competitive leagues and join competitive tournaments.
Jayne Mansfield... my ideal bowling teammate. *sigh*
Googie/Doo Wop Architecture
Googie, also known as populuxe, is a subdivision of futurist architecture influenced by car culture and the Space Age, originating from southern California in the late 1940s and continuing approximately into the mid-1960s. With upswept roofs and, often, curvaceous, geometric shapes, and bold use of glass, steel and neon, it decorated many a motel, coffee house and bowling alley in the 1950s and 1960s. It epitomizes the spirit a generation demanded, looking excitedly towards a bright, technological and futuristic age.
The Hotel Fremont and Casino (pictured above) is an example of Googie architecture. The Fremont was built in 1956 by architect Wayne McAllister. It opened as Nevada's tallest high-rise building standing 14 stories tall with 500 rooms. Some other famous examples of McAllister's work include once famous and legendary Las Vegas landmarks such as the Sands Hotel and Casino, the Dessert Inn Hotel and Casino, and the El Rancho Hotel and Casino. Wayne also designed some well known iconic coffee shops and restaurants in Southern California, his most famous being Bob's Big Boy.
MUSIC
Oldies/Street Corner Harmony/Doo Wop
My favorite music is the oldies, the Street Corner Harmony, Doo Wop, Soul, and Motown of the 50s and 60s. I became first interested in it a few years back by hearing the way it was presented on the radio and at public events by our areas local legendary DJ, Jerry Blavat. He calls it "Music from the heart, not a research chart". Unlike corporate radio stations today, Jerry Blavat plays the music he likes and what the local public enjoys listening to. He is able to do this only because he works independently and buys his own airtime with his own money. Otherwise, the corporate radio industry of today is pretty much total shit all around, and it's getting just as bad as television causing a negative cultural impact on society in the USA. Fifty years ago mostly all music in the USA had a positive impact and the general idea of a song was along the lines of 'looking forward to a better and brighter future'. Today it's all changed for the worse. I am thankful for those few select radio personalities that are still around that have kept the Oldies alive.
The 'Geator', Jerry Blavat, at work at his studio in Philadelphia PA.
Some of my favorite oldies groups/musicians, to name a few, are: The Duprees, The Skyliners, The Cadillacs, Donnie Elbert, The Four Tops, Elvis Presley, Frankie Vallie, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., The Pentagons, Lee Andrews and the Hearts, Keely Smith, Nat King Cole.
Other artists I like from other genres of music are: Hall and Oates, Michael McDonald, and Van Halen.
MOVIES
JAYNE MANSFIELD MOVIES!
My favorite actress of all time is Jayne Mansfield. Listed below are my favorite Jayne films. These films are my favorite all together because they display how versatile she can be in playing different roles, not just the role of a 'dumb blonde'. These films are also my favorite because I like the story lines. In my opinion, they are well written which makes watching these films in their entirety fun and exciting while awaiting Jayne's scenes.
