About Me
Unison Collective
Unison Collective consists of many elements. You have solo artists, a group, producers, promoters, and so many other talents. Unison Collective, even with their diversity and individuality that they possess, they move as one force with good music as the fuel for their vehicle to success. You have Tislam The Great, E.Q., Mzery, and E.T. All who currently live in Baltimore but each one comes from a different background. The entity was established in 2005, but they where not strangers up to this point. Tislam, who already had been making his mark in the Hiphop scene in Baltimore, meet Mzery at a local open mic that he was involved with. Tislam was impressed by Mzerys talent and decided he would like to work with her. A couple years after that he meets E.Q. through Belovid a mutual friend/MC/Producer.
As the friendship began to build they started to work closer with one another and as time past they also started to perform together at shows. They began opening for known acts such as J-Live, Vast Aire, Jean Grae, Diverse, Mr. Lif, and Akrobatic. The name Unison Collective had still yet to be born. Then one day the three found themselves doing a lot together and decided that they need to form a unit. Soon there after making that decision the birth of Unison Collective accrued. All their efforts, time, energy, and rewards were caused by these individuals doing it in Unison and Collectively, hence the name Unison Collective.
Tislam came from his attribute acquired from becoming a part of The Nation of God and Earth. Tislam is also an acronym, which means Truth I Study Learn And Master. The Great was added after reaching a point of greatness in his life. E.Q. is his birth given name initials which also can be related to the musical term for equalizer. EQ & Tislam are the duo E.T. The name is more than just the first letter of each of their names. Its also partially related to the Steven Spielberg film E.T. They feel like aliens in the scene of Hiphop. They stand out with their unique style of expression lyrically. The talents of these two are beyond just lyrics. EQ and Tislam also produce music.
Mzery has gone from open mic MC to doing full sets on her own. She is known for bring the reality and the truth in her rhymes. One of here quotes are I bring the truth, sometimes the truth brings pain and usually when theres pain, there be my name. She has proven that a female MC can rock the mic just as good if not better than the males.
Now that you have met the group and the talent that make up the group lets get into what they have done thus far. Having a deep passion for uplifting the community, Unison Collective has done many events for the youth.
