I create innocent looking characters, some of them with a dark side. They tell sad, funny and violent stories. These girls, bears, rabbit people and others have personalities, ideas and intentions. One of the characters is meant to be me, the girl with dark hair. These could be the impression of being made by a little girl; which could be disturbing for the viewers. There is a strong literary presence in the drawing and paintings. There is an exchange of emotions and ideas between the characters through their expressions and text. I want the expectator to find humor in the presentation of the bizarre and abnormal. I tell stories. They could be seen as visual manifestations of the deepest repressed emotions and darkest experiences wich lie at the back of the human psyche the startling combination of innocent look alike creatures and the violent images, both grab the attention in an enigmatic way.
I get inspired by my every day life, people's comments, horror films,news papers, magazines, comic books.
I feel confortable using different types of media, according to wich represents best my intentions.Drawing is one of the best ways to represent what I want to say.Some times I use the format of a black and white comic to put some of the stories and drawings together.The images become three dimentional, as I start making dolls from the characters made out of fabric.The action of sewing is a ritualistic and therapeutic experience.Most of the materials I use are recycled.
