And like midnight blooming gardenias, lyrics and grooves unfold in their own sweet time; into dark and heady intoxicants of the slow, seductive kind. A true Southern Gothic; do not hastily link this style or genre with that of basic country. No, now that would be a grievous error, as this work is steeped in far richer, more complex poetic elements of the region. As you tune in on Phantasmic Radio, think Ann Rice, Tennessee Williams, Truman Capote & the eloquent Harper Lee. Conjure up the hipsways of musical patron saints Bo Diddley, Peter Green and Brian Eno. Step inside one or two of John Doyle’s lavender infused blues shadows, and as you take a swig from your well concealed flask, sally forth under that canopy of spanish moss…. just over there.
