I play bass in a jazz/funk/"whatever the hell we feel like playing" trio in Chicago called SPARE PARTS . Above is a video of me playing at an ocean front club just outside Lima during the Peru Jazz Festival of March '08. Hours before our performance, I was hit with one of the worst illnesses I've ever had. A hellish fever and food poisoning combo had left me profusely sweating and shivering in the back of our bus right up until we took the stage. I remember repeatedly begging to go to a hospital and instead being driven to a nearby apartment for a shower with no hot water. I don't think I was able to soundcheck or even linecheck my bass coherently. The place was to capacity,(something like 1200 people) so I didn't have much choice. At the end of the video you can hear our friend/improptu "manager" Justin yelling "you made it!", referring to this whole scenario (this was our last tune of the night). Afterwards (2 hours after), I was driven back to Lima (puking hard out the bus window) where I laid in bed for the next 3 days sweating, shivering, not eating or drinking, shitting green water and trying to be polite in sick broken Spanish. And that was just the first week! Goodtimes!! Anyway....We've played all over the place. Check the schedule!
