Sayd Yama Sarshar was born in Sydney Australia 29th November 1982. Coming from a family of Musicians Yama had music in his body and soul the day he was born.Yama started playing the tabla from the tender age of two years old,
Under the guidance of his father and guru Ustad Sayd Nesruddin Sarshar born in Kabul Afghanistan. At the age of 15 Yama went to Bombay India and become a student of world renowned Tabla players the Late Ustad Alla Raka,Ustad Zakir Hussain and Fazal Quershi of the Punjab Gharana school of Tabla.Yama has accompanied very famous musicians from Afghanistan, such as Hagama, Ahmad Sha Hassan, Farhad Darya, Haider Salim, Qader Eshpari, Habib Qaderi, Nashenas, Ustad Mawash, Rahim Jani and Salma.Famous and world renonowed Indian singers and artists such as Shri Anup Jalota in which Yama gave a concert with him in Bombay ( India) in front of a crowd of 6000 people, Ghulam Ali Khan saeb in private mehfil , Jagjit Singh in private mehfil, Pandit Ashok Roy ( Senior disciple of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan Saeb), Sabri Brothers in House mehfil.Yama has also performed for famous Hollywood actors and actresses such as Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman and Keanu Revees.Yama has also recently completed his first CD called "Jagulbandi" which is fusion music, fusion music is a mixture of different instruments from different countries coming to one to perform. Yama has used many instruments including, saz which is a turkish instrument also sitar, guiter, harmonium, keyboard and many more. He reguarly performs with one of Bollywoods top singer Mintu and travels around the world with him.
