About Me

Billy Squier put Piper together under the wing of talent manager Bill Aucoin in 1976. Based in New York City, Piper never played the local club scene, but instead, due to the influence of Bill Aucoin, were booked on theatre one-nighters and tours as an opening act for such groups as Angel, the Babys, Blue Oyster Cult, ZZ Top, Kiss, and Electric Light Orchestra among others. They recorded 2 albums for A&M Records, recording in New York's Electric Lady Studios, Record Plant, Hit Factory, and Eastern Sound in Toronto. They appeared in rock mags of the day, including Creem and the Japanese fanzine Music Life. Piper, a pre-MTV band, broke up in 1978. Billy Squier went on to commercial success as a solo artist in the 80s.
