About Me

Darrell Speck and The Rebel Rousers could play with the best of them. Take Me Back, How I Love You and Not A Word From You were the very first songs ever written and recorded by Darrell. He was 19 years old. The year was 1958. Just over a year later, in June of 1959, The Rebel Rousers traveled to Harrodsburg, Kentucky and recorded these songs at Al Vic Records.Note: I'm Walking was written and sung by Don Daffron. Darrell produced and engineered the recording, and plays lead guitar on the track. Other featured musicians are Buddy Bell - rhythm guitar, Robert Cooksey - upright bass, Don Daffron - vocals and rhythm guitar.A complete listing of Darrell Speck and The Rebel Rousers can be found on ROCKIN' COUNTRY STYLE, a discography of country rock and roll and related records from 1951 to 1964, a great website compiled by Terry Gordon of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.That address is: http://rcs.law.emory.edu/rcs/artists/s/spec1000.htm
Darrell Speck co-wrote this song in 1965 with singer Jack Barlow and Charlie Stewart. It was released on Dial Records in New York and produced by the legendary Buddy Killen. On October 8, 1965, Barlow sang it on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.
