About Me

Life In A Hospital is a Washington, D.C. based band that formed in early 2006 when songwriter/vocalist Jedediah Olsen and songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Eugene Lhymn began collaborating, and soon discovered they shared common influences such as Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, and Portishead. The two then sought out the drumming expertise of Mark Bramer, who had an extensive background in various post-punk DC bands. Lead guitarist Justin Curp soon followed and added trademark atmospheric layers to the band's sound. War called and now Justin is overseas. He is dearly missed, and will always be a part of Life In A Hospital. After some guitarist lineup changes, guitarist Jim Beardow came on board (formerly of Shwa), and added his searing Brit-rock influenced guitar playing.

The lineup was now complete and the sound that emerged from the quartet was filled with soaring keyboard & piano arrangements, atmospheric guitars, and the dynamic vocals of Jedediah Olsen, which would become the most prominent feature of the group’s music. With comparisons from Jeff Buckley to Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Jedediah’s unique vocal style and tremendous range and power differ from most indie rock outfits where vocals are typically understated and shadowed by surrounding instruments.

The songs showcase the band's ability to compose unpredictable, unique progressions and song structures, and combine them with honest, raw vocals & lyrics.

One year later, after rigorous songwriting and rehearsing sessions, the band has finished their debut EP (recorded and mixed by the talented Ben Daniel), and will be constantly recording new material to share with you. An aggressive DC & East coast tour is being planned, so stay tuned!!!
