GIG REVIEWS
HAIL HAIL PROMOTIONS: Terrifyingly youthful brutaltity from petersfield!
ALTON LOUNGE BAR(headline show):Finally, Dred triumphantly headlined the gig. With a pale and genuinely ill Chris, the standard of play was likely to be affected. It is easily apparent that he lives for drumming though and once sat behind his shiny new kit he perked up considerably and performed with a passion for music that slapped glandular fever squarely in the face. As a four piece their sound has not diminished and the quality of their musicianship is always astounding. "Blood Red Skies" was played to a raucous reception by their fans-who packed the room out and kept moving continuously throughout the frantic set. Their popularity stems from the individual personalities off-stage too: the band members are well known locally and immerse themselves in the metal scene to support their peers and ooze music from every pore. This obvious adoration for the music is transferred to stage beautifully-the songs are well rehearsed and varied. Some songs have a definite nod to the heavier style of music that they are clearly fond of but there are hints of more classic rock influences coming through the guitar and bass in particular and there is a skill to combining these factors together so intricately. They are another band who make the transition to major gigs easily and with skill-their first headline gig at the bar was justified and they are serving a purpose simply by showing the newer bands that were on earlier exactly how it is done.
BLOODSTOCK BOTB: Dred: such a sweet band of genuinely lovely people who are fresh faced, youthful and friendly. So what happens when they get on stage?! They are brutal, thrashing through their set as if there is no tomorrow. They have the presence of a band who have played for years and an exuberance and confidence that normally accompanies experience and years of practise. They couldn't have had that experience and practise though: they can't even vote yet, so they must just be talented. This is definitely a band to watch develop further, and they impressed the judges immensely. Voted through to the top of the heat, they didn't get there because of their age, they got there despite it: quite an achievement for them to be proud of.

ALTON LOUNGE BAR: DRED, The young metal band put on a brave performance, the fans packed into the room as they got going and by the second song the room was full of people wanting more metal to come their way. Matt's vocals keep improving each time they play and there is some serious energy to their set. For their age they are making vast progress and would certainly be able to take their music to the next level without any qualms. They are recording soon, look out for updates on their progress and get some of their sound in your ears!
The second band of the evening were probably the biggest surprise. They have gigged at the bar before, but not for such a big crowd and they were a shock to the older (over 16) generation at the venue. Their sound was very well developed and particular mention has to go to their drummer who stood out amongst the tracks as an incredibly talented player. Look out for their return-they will no doubt come back soon! - The Lounge Bar
MAPEX UK, NEC BERMINGHAM: Chris showed great maturity and began with an energetic groove piece, which fused heavy driving beats and an understanding of time, which any band would be proud of. After his groove performance, Chris unleashed some stunning double bass drum patterns at a speed to rival the most accomplished metal professionals. His use of the kit showed his dedication to practice and passion for everything DRUMS.
