The story so far...
You have to go back to the late 70's early 80's to find the origins of Idle Pop. A group of angst ridden teenagers at Hanson school had a desire to play music. This evolved into 2 bands Titan(Andy Shack, Dave Shaw, Baz Thompson, Mark Williams and Paul Clark) and Lucifer(Gary Atkins, Paul Smith, Chris Sunderland, Sam Loker, Andy McEnnill).
Both wrote their own songs, Titan had classics called Devastated (an 8 verse, 10 minute rock opera), Do You Remember and I Don't Care Anymore, whilst Lucifer had Hard Road To Freedom and Big Tits.
Eventually we got a gig at Idle YMCA (now knocked down), we got paid £100 for that gig between the 2 bands, but robbing twats Lucifer only paid Titan £30!!!
Eventually we went our seperate ways, but Titan still played a few gigs around Bradford.
Titan reformed as Cheyanne with Tim Harrison on lead geetar and played a few more gigs, we once supported Ian Gillans sister at Thornton Working Mens club!!
Eventually Gary and Chris from Lucifer asked Andy Shack to start a new band, this pissed Baz off no end. Tim Burnley also joined. No name was ever thought of for this band and we auditioned a few singers but no one ever stayed with us because we were more intersted in playing football, getting drunk and meeting girls. This 4 piece could have gone far, but didn't.
We split up and forgot about music for a while, but tried it again about 10 years later, but it just didn't work. So along came our 40th birthdays and we said wouldn't it be good if the band reformed to play at the 40th party's, so Andy Shack, Gazza Atkins, Baz Thompson, Dave Shaw and Chris Sunderland started rehearsing in January 2005 in preperation for the party's. we decided on a few names The Andy Shack Band, Chuffing Nora and Idle Pop.
This line up clicked and the rest as they say is history.
We are not musicians we are mates having fun playing instruments.
We have all been friends for over 30 years and we stick together, thats why when you come to a Idle Pop gig you will have a laugh and enjoy yerself, because we do. We are not a self indulgent covers band we are Idle Pop

My Interests

"The Pop"
Dave "Ginger Pop" Shaw - Kind of sings, once won the Bradford Festival Comedian of the year (but don't let that put you off), has ginger hair everywhere apart from his head, has also started developing man breasts.
Chris "Sporty Pop" Sunderland - Plays the bass with his spazzy hand. Also hates spending his own money, and has a head of grey hair.
Baz "Scary Pop" Thompson - Plays rhythm geeetar, is only 3' 6" tall, can tell you what you wore on a lads night out 20 years ago, but can't remember the next chord he is meant to be playing, also suffers from tourettes!!
Gary "Posh Pop" Atkins - Plays lead and rhythm geeetar, has perfect hair and hates anyone touching his Gibson Les Paul(bloody geetar playing diva)
Andy "Baby Pop" Shack - Tama Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, was a former model for Empire Stores catelogue, used to test racing cars for Ferrari, and keeps "The Pop" tight and bright
