About Me

It is such a burden to be vain and silly and write those long, sensational About Me pages, the sins of my ambitious, and foolish youth. If only they taught us to be more self-critical in childhood instead of praising us like we were gods, I think we should have less vain sections under this category, but seeing as the lot of teachers are incompetent, I see no improvement soon; for most are too obstinate and proud to be corrected or pick up a sensible book of the Ancients. But I blame my own folly most, not my education, and hope every man shall have the virtue to see his own faults and work to cast them off before it is too late. What a vain ambition it is to desire to be heard for our trifles called poetry and our writings or our oft-erring opinions, or to seek the love of men too selfish to return what good affections we have. No, I value myself too much and too little to busy myself with this section.
