Black, a native of Houston, Texas, is truly an up and coming Artist with untiring faith in God. She began singing at the tender age of three for Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, (Reverend C.L. Jackson). It was apparent that GOD gifted her in music, as a young child Jamonté would lead songs in the Tiny Tots choir. Her gift of singing was cultivated during her grammar and high school years, in school choirs. She credits her former church choir director, (the world renowned Gospel Recording Director of music and praise) V. Michael McKay, as a major influence in her musical training. While working on Public Health and Guidance Counseling degrees at Prairie View A&M University, Jamonté brought her vivacious talent to her organizations Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and Rho Chi Psi, Incorporated (public service organizations), as she graced the stage of many crowds at their programs and functions. Jamonté also entertained/wowed thousands of people, dancing as a member with the world-renowned PVAMU Marching Storm Band Majorette Team, "The Black Foxes" for three years. "Prairie View Produces Productive People"!!! After graduating from graduate school, Jamonté won the Grand Prize for a Mary J. Blige concert contest through Clear Channel Station in Houston, Texas during June, 2002 singing on radio station 97.9 FM “The Boxâ€. At this point and time is when she made up her mind to finally live out her God given talent and life dream, and decided to pursue her music career. Jamonté is a current member of Silverlake Church, under the leadership of Reverend Reginald DeVaughn. She previously served as a soloist and member of the church choir, “Voices of Praiseâ€at Brentwood Baptist Church. Jamonté brought down the house singing the "National Anthem" at the Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Lakers game at the Toyota Center on January 29, 2006, and recently, while effortlessly won the 97.9 FM "G.T. & Kiotti's" weekly contest (1st Place $300 Prize) singing at Club Riddims. She also performs at local clubs, comedy shows, private parties, weddings and other special events/functions. Jamonté is a very outgoing, fun-loving, versatile and multi-talented individual. Jamonté already envisions herself as a Star, prayerfully one day as a World Musical Superstar/Artist and Icon; because she is a strong leader, is self-motivated, plus she has named it and claimed her success through God. It won’t be long before Jamonté takes the world by storm and will be seen on TV and her voice heard on the radio for our listening pleasure.
