Music:

Band Members: SOLO/EXCERPTS are "Variations on a Sages Theme." not the final take on a tune, but a conversational one as an experiment. (got a strange ringing audio artefact xferring it nto myspace. hmmm..) WHAT GOES AROUND & BLUES FOR HST are from the catalogue of the Dangerous Sages (linkee on friends list). MY FOOLISH HEART is an important tune to me, as it's what accompanied my wife down the aisle (Bill Evans w'Scotty and Paul - recorded on the 25th june which is also MB's birthday). 500 MILES & FEUILLE MORTES are minidisc'ed trio gigs in a posh joint and feature Laurie Hamilton on piano and an alleged drummer/bandleader.
Influences: Rufus Reid, Marc Johnson, Scott laFaro, Eddie Gomez, Gary Peacock, Ron Carter, George Mraz, Mike Richmond, Dave Holland, Charlie Haden, Ray Brown, John Clayton, Buster Williams, Michael Moore etc (not an exhaustive list). Bill Evans, Dexter Gordon, Keith Jarrett, Lynne Arriale, Monty Alexander, Carmen McCrae. Dalai Lama, Shunryu Suzuki, Alan Watts, David Attenborough, Karl Marx.
Sounds Like: According to 'TV's Oz Clark' - "Low notes of Reid, with overtones of Peacock...possibly from Holland...I'm getting some little flourishes of Gomez and some high notes of Johnson...all rounded out with a bit of a Brown finish." According to others - sounds like Jay - regardless of monies spent on various different strings etc...
