About Me

Hi, this is the myspace page of K. Paul A/K/A OTOLATHE. I play music for people. I am part of the Analog Synthesizer Ensemble with Hal McGee and Jay Peele. I also play with the CRASH MITCHELL FIVE. Josh Sherman and I run the MEATRONIC RECORDINGS netlabel. My tunes on this page can be extremely diverse, which reflects my nearly random musical tastes. You might find spaghetti western soundtrack music here, or ambient, or glitch, or solo bass, or noise, or drum n bass, or modular analog synth explorations, or tape manipulations, or guitar wankery. I get bored sometimes.

    New Years Decrees

Seized by a paroxysm of the delusions of grandeur that plague my existence, I hereby issue the following mandates to an unresponsive universe: 1.  It is no longer hip or funny to use that lame-as...

    Beat-matching LFO’s

Anyone else doing this?  I believe I am being too proud of myself.  The problem is all these pedals that incorporate a LFO (e.g., the rate knob on a chorus, or the LFO knob on the ...

    Disappointing the Fans...

Over the weekend at the absolutely smashing Action Research 8 show, I told Chris Miller of Electronic Sub South that I used to produce Drum n Bass when I lived in Boston.  He asked if "my fa...

A gig with 50 tiny performers.

Hal McGee sent me an e-mail before the screening here of his movie The Secret Life of Hal McGee.  "Think: urban decay," he said in it, "rust, oxidation, mold, fungus, graffiti, spills, stains, an...

    indie rock hypnogogic language

Indie rock was a long bubble that appeared in the linoleum. We scraped the bubble and put the shards into some manhattan clam chowder, thus making a kind of stew. We served it to everybody.

    Living Room One, Meatronic, etc.

Last weekend I was privileged & totally stoked to host a bunch of clever musicians in my house.  I stocked the garage fridge with Belgian ale and recorded the results: Don Butler -- bass Josh...

Recording notes, Pegasus Lounge, plus something about mental states.

Last night I recorded BLAST's, Waterdigger's, and my own performances at Pegasus and listened to them today.  Format was 2.6 MHz , 1-bit .wsd files.  Mics were the matched pair small-diaphra...
