Roc, the multifaceted and multitalented R&B artist of the south, surfaces onto the scene during the height of the rhythm and blues genre. For those waiting in anticipation for the renewal of R&B, he is the answer. His new release Gotta Lot to Give is truly the start of a new evolution. With his pure musical sound he is bound to bring a new vibe to the music industry.Jamaya Smith known as Roc, the crooner from Vicksburg, MS, discovered his love for music at an early age. Listening to artist such as Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Jackie Wilson, and Michael Jackson made him fall in love with music. As a result of these influences and many others, Roc began singing in the church and school choir at the tender age of 11. By the age of 13 he began singing lead roles in the school choir and embraced his talent with a passion.As he grew into a young man, his skill matured with him. Roc gained recognition as an illustrious singer. Soon, he was singing for weddings and various special occasions. By the time he was a senior in high school, he gained tremendous experience and respect for participation in various choirs, such as Total Sound Show Choir and his role as tenor section leader of the Warren Central High Madrigal Choir. In fact from these choirs arose the group Sweet Harmony, consisting of Roc, Michael Bunch, Thomas Bunch, Quincy Reynolds, and Justin Rankin. This renowned group spent six years providing audiences with soulfully energetic performances. They have opened concerts for several artists and have won numerous talent shows.As a solo artist, Roc explores new ground in the realm of R&B. He connects wit his fans on a personal level by delving into the charted territory of love and life issues. Yet, he extends beyond this by providing intuitive answers using his own perspective and insight.
