Genevieve Sylva

Genevieve Sylva from a very early age had a very keen ear and interest in music. Growing up in the church singing gospel music enabled her to sing in the choir and later conduct her local pentecostal church choir. She is an excellent singer-song writer, arranger and educator. Over the years Genevieve has developed her own unique smooth but exhuberant vocal style, with a confident presence when singing. She performs with Black Voices and has supported Nina Simone, Ray Charles, Destinys Child. She has toured worldwide, in South Africa, America, and many places in Europe, experiencing many different styles and cultures. She also performs with the energetic West Midlands based group, Up 4 the Down Stroke. A memorable moment for Genevieve was when she sang with Take 6 at their masterclass in Birmingham, at the Symphony Hall. Genevieve contributes in her community by teaching local school choirs and conducting workshops, performing at the ICC Symphony Hall, National Indoor Arena and venues throughout the West Midlands.
