Born in Eritrea in 1979 my parents named me after an important political event that was taking place back then: “Hadnet†means “unity†in Tigrinya, my native language! Many older Eritreans say that this is heavy name for such a tiny person like me – I think I can handle it!My family and I moved to Germany when I was three and for whatever reason we ended up in Goeppingen - a city about half an hour from Stuttgart aka Benztown (Mercedes Benz comes from Stuttgart – yeah). I live and loved in GP for the next 17 years. Sometimes I liked it, sometimes I didn’t but after graduation I knew I had to leave. I applied for an internship at Kiss FM in Berlin, got accepted and left – all within 3 weeks!I never regretted this step since the internship not only ignited my passion for radio but also resulted in a real job at a radio station called Fritz. That was in 2000; ever since then I have done everything you can do in the radio business: I reported from demonstration, concerts and press conferences. I interviewed artists from Lenny Kravitz and Eminem to Mary J. Blige, Usher and Ludacris. I talked to olschool bands like A-ha but also to B2K, to politicians and singers like Buju Banton and Tweet, Kelly Rowland and 112. I reviewed albums and concerts and had my own radio show during the day and at nights (which I loved because there’s a special atmosphere in the studio then). This period of my life was exciting and very important but now I have to move on.Right now I’m working on my master’s degree (North American Studies, Political Science and Arabic - my parents are so relieved because they thought that might get lost along the way). Once I’m finished I’m ready to start my media empire!!..
