Righteous Buddha came together in 1999 when John Smart, Dave Hinson and Chris Dejohn began doing shows at the old Chelsea's Cafe near LSU. Righteous Buddha has since released two full length CDs; Black, Blue, & Bamboo (2000 RB Music) and Get Right (2003 RB Music). Righteous Buddha has shared the stage with such acts as G.Love & Special Sauce, Robert Cray, The Derek Trucks Band, Leftover Salmon, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise, The Kudzu Kings, Soul Live, D.J. Logic, Spoonfed Tribe, George Porter Jr., John Cleary, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Red Stick Ramblers, Hairy Apes BMX (Mike Dillon), Donald Evans, Liquidrone, Rebirth Brass Band and has toured extensively throughout the SouthEast, SouthWest, and as far west as Colorado. Chris Dejohn left the band in 2008 relocating to San Francisco. Drummer Scott Sibley hooked up with us in the fall of 2008 and is featured on the Chelsea's video. We are always working on new material and play regularly at Chelsea's, our home base in Baton Rouge.
