About Me

Gab Dilworth (aka Wallopalooza) is one of those true music enthusiasts we often hear about, but don’t often see. He started collecting records at the unfeasible age of five, and believe me you can hear it when he play's, everything from afro beats, breaks, house, disco & funk, gets a spin usually in the same set. Indeed his record collection is probably the most comprehensive, if not the largest, selection of dance music on the North coast. An avid break dancer in the mid eighties, Gab was exposed to hip hop & electro early in the piece, but it was his friendship with dj 187 (seminal sydney rave dj), who he used to buy records for, that pushed him from the dance floor to behind the decks. Playing house parties and various small gig's in Sydney, as well as a radio show on 2BLU fm, he started developing the skill's to not only move but educate a crowd.Moving to Lismore in '96 to study music production at Southern Cross University, his unique dj'ing style saw him installed as resident at the now legendary martini night, the longest running club night on the North coast. This was a night were he could fully explore the whole spectrum of music, from 60's doo wop to dirty disco and all the point's in-between, no one will forget when he dropped "puncherball" from the Romper room to a packed floor ( & it worked!).Hooking up with some mates in '98, he helped formed the tribe187 company, and still the driving force behind it today. Making the most of Gab's lighting experience as well as his dj skills, they produced the fresh silver beats gig's, which introduced his music to a different audience and gave him the opportunity to play his other musical passions hip hop & breaks. His musical knowledge now see’s him employed as dance buyer for Music bizarre in Lismore, and playing at almost every club in Byron bay. His residency at la la land on Saturday’s has developed the reputation as the most eclectic, interesting but still danceable nights in town. He still resides every fortnight at martini, dropping disco bombs and Sesame street grooves, and has a already started buyong records for his two year old son, it looks like this particular vinyl museum ain’t going away in a hurry. ...
