About Me

Having been a huge fan of various genres of music for decades I decided to take it upon myself to create my own music. So I sit in my room on my laptop using trial and error and blunder my way through songs.
I feel I am making slow progress though and hopefully you will enjoy what I create. If not check back in a month or so to see if I've improved ;)
Update: 29th Oct 07.
Ok, so I've been messin' about making music for a little over a year now (on and off), with varying results. Still feel I have a lot to learn, most of which is the bare bones of production. eg. Compression, EQing and how to use Limiters etc.
Progress has been made though and my tunes sound a fair bit more professional than when I started.
I think I'm well on the way to developing my own sound (own as in it is 'me' rather than a new unique sound) so that can't be bad.
Would just like to thank those that have commented, offered feedback, advice or criticisms.
And of course all that have listened.

My Blog

2007

Its been a strange old year. Musically its been a bit up and down. I feel I've learnt a fair bit about the process and am slightly more competent than I was coming into the year. Special thanks go out...

DFB v1

Also known as Dirty French Bastard! Actually tried using the dreaded 'compression' on this tune. What a bloody nightmare that is too. I tried following a few recommended parameters for certain instrum...

Put Me In Line

This song incorperates a bassline I had come up with ages ago, but until now, had little to no idea what to put with it. Originally I had put a basic Kick and snare combo with it for the drum track, b...

Angels Face

This song was inspired by Mad Capsule Markets - "Jam!" In particular the heavily distorted beats. After trying my own version of this style of beat, I then just went to town structuring all manner of ...

Charlies Angels

This is a wierd track for me. Usually when I finish a song I have some kind of buzz, an excitement to get it listened to etc. It was a bit of a pain in the arse making this tune, my CPU was struggling...

Bass Tard

Another new tune. Thought I'd try my hand at a more traditional dance tune and have a break from the darker atmospherics of my other creations. Some may argue that this tune is equally as "sick" as so...

Birthday Resent

This tune was inspired by and features audio from one of the latest run of NSPCC awareness raising videos. I wanted to capture the creepiness of the short piece of film. I feel I have amplified the cr...

Neuralgia

For this tune I experimented with lots of different sounds layered up. Dabbled with effect automation. Neglected to add a bassline (a 1st for me) and tried a slightly different approach to the so...

Vicariously Visceral

In an attempt to get back into creating music after I'd become incredibly disheartened by the whole process. I put together this tune, concentrating more on the 'mood' and 'feel' of it rather than its...

Turmoil

This song I tried to capture a melancholy mood and my frustrations with life in general. Wanted it to be pretty simple and slightly 'off kilter' if that makes sense. Quite pleased with the end product...
