Munkimuk is one of the pioneers of Sydney and Australian Hip Hop. He is an artist, producer, songwriter, musician and breakdancer
Munkimuk has spent 20 years performing as an MC all over Australia and overseas and is an extremely capable rapper, who can rap in both English and traditional Indigenous languages.
When he isn’t touring around the country, he is busy creating and recording music and running hip hop and rapping and breakdancing workshops for kids across Australia.
Munkimuk is a veteran of the Sydney rap scene, has performed regularly for many years at the Vibe 3on3 Basketball and Hip Hop Challenge, Yabun and Klub Koori. He has also played at the Big Day Out 2008 and 2006, toured USA, Europe, Canada, South America, NZ and the pacific and also represented Australia at Vancouver International Freestyle Challenge....also appearances on Channel V on Foxtel.
In 2005 Munkimuk has finally delivered his eagerly awaited debut album, Ten Years Too Late. It’s a collection of 12 songs full of witty lyrics, backed up by Munkimuk playing on all instruments live.
The CD features the track Dreamtime which was nominated for Single Release of the Year at the 2006 Deadlys - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Music Awards.
Fast forward to 2009 and Munkimuk is currently working on a REMIX album of older material soon to be released and some video clips for a couple of songs as well as being in pre-production for his new CD.....as well as being the subject matter for a documentary to go to air on Australian TV in May !!!!
