About Me

Struggling musician, struggling college lecturer, struggling philosopher, who enjoys music, lecturing, philosophy and struggling. After securing a record deal of sorts and bunging out 2 whole 7"s, followed up soon with a mini-album. Now it isn't so much making a record, as selling the fucker. And trying to organise a rehearasal.Black Country born, raised and will probably die that way (which means Miners Lung I think).Working at a college as a philosophy lecturer, starting an MA in philosophy next February. I dunno what to focus on. I reckon it will be bleak.Trying to find the balance between figuring out all of life's social and metaphysical problems, whilst still finding time to be pretentious.

My Interests

Music, reading, philosophy, film. I'm not sure there is much else to do around here. I often find time to walk up to the pool beside the old folks home, near Dudley Municipal Golf Course, so I can see how many shopping trolleys have been dumped in there. My record is 7.

I'd like to meet:

Ghandi. He seems positively charming in that film he made...

Capital Punishment Whaffle: Introduction

The world has thrust the subject of capital punishment back in our faces after we thought it was long dead.  It was taken out of British society, remains limited in the US and the rest of the wor...

The Death of Saddam

I'm starting to feel that there isn't a public event that I don't feel a need to voice an opinion on.  Ideally I would be the next Bertrand Russell, but sadly I find myself thinking I might be th...

2006

I thought it was about time I wrote something on here but nothing seemed apt.  There are no burning issues that have taken me, nor any philosophical challenges I wanted to take up.  Instead ...

Three Cheers for Jingoism

I bought The Sun today.  Nothing I am proud of, I did it for the TV Guide.  You can buy a paper with a crossword and 7 day TV guide for the price of a regular listings magazine, plus you get...

David Icke: Guff

I had a friend a few years back, one of whom I don't talk to any more, but I spent near enough a decade in their company in one form or another.  Towards the end of that time, he became intereste...

Why I Am Not A(n anti-)Christian

The first time I heard about Anti-Theism (AT) it was from Colin McGinn.  He explained it in almost Nietzschean terms- that obsession with three stages which borders on dialectics.  He said t...

Identity

Where this all stems from... At about 6.30 this morning I was lying in bed not fully awake but hardly asleep either.  Normally when I can't sleep (which is most nights) I do one of two things; I ...
