About Me

Get Myspace Layouts @ CodeMyLayout.comI happen to be the founder and owner of a new and independent music record label DEESELECTA, which does not carry out any project of a commercial character nor anything that would interfere with my philosophy… Label is oriented towards its own style and conception in music, which is large enough and includes in it such underground styles as house, trance, electro, r’n’b and others. My company deals with producing and management of solo singers and music bands, search of new talents and announcing fresh names on the stage of music world; as well as promo activities, organizing of concerts and events, producing of shows, scenario writing, publishing activities, CD & vinyl records producing and distribution, as well as music recording in our very own studio. >>>>>>>> Personally I am responsible for all the activities mentioned above covered by the company and I am the leader and the idea-man for all the projects that we develop, and also my obligations contain producing and management of the artists. One of the most successful and stylish Latvian singers – Yana Kay (www.yanakay.com) – in known under label DEESELECTA, as well as the young singer of r’n’b – Cat-rin Ru (www.myspace.com/catrinru), pop project ONA (www.myspace.com/onadrugaja), a kicking-off young artist Markus Riva (www.myspace.com/markusriva), Kristine Grundmane (www.myspace.com/kristinegrundmaneonline) and others. At the very moment we are working to accomplish two more completely new music projects. Although the studio is comparatively new, almost all the well-known artists of Latvia have recorded there, for example Intars Busulis, Martins Freimanis, bands Putnu Balle and H2O, Ance Krauze, Ivo Fomins, Andris Kivichs, Nicol, Ozols, Lauris Reiniks, Vasilisa and many others. Also the great musical ‘Autoplaneta’ was recorded at our studio. Apart from this I bring to Latvia artists and dj’s from Estonia, Lithuania, Russia and other countries for taking part in different events and concerts. >>>>>>>> I can consider myself to be a music entrepreneur because music is my whole life. I have advanced step by step towards my goal of creating my very own music label for more than ten years now, because I wanted original ideas to come reality. I am into show business since year 1989, but in year 1995 I was one of the first in Latvia who would professionally exercise management of artists. I live and breathe this job and this course that I have chosen lets me do my best and I do it professionally and bona fide. >>>>>>>> The things I do are part of the Latvian national music industry because what I do is to help young and mostly obscure artists and musicians to realize their creative potentialities and also because I take part in certain music events of local importance. Thus, for instance, being the producer of Yana Kay, I was drawn into the competition Eurovision, in which Yana Kay has taken part several times; she won and represented Latvia with band FLY in the grand final of the 48th international Eurovision of year 2003. Also, Yana Kay has been on a concert tour about the country, she has visited the most out-the-way corners of Latvia, where she presented her creative work to many and many of music lovers and also gave charity concerts in children asylums and in The Children’s Center of Oncological Affections. Also, I happen to be the author of an idea of creating a unique, one its kind, project of Latvian ethnic music record, where the ancient Latvian music instruments sound together with modern electronic and up-to-date computer technologies. One more thing – on the background of the demographic crisis in Latvia - me and my company are the only representatives (distributors) of the Dutch composer Raimond Lap, owner of many prestige prizes, who creates unique music for children (at the age of two to five), as well as for their parents, known as “Lovely Baby Music” (www.music4babies.com). This music impacts the emotional and intellectual development of the future generation, which is, in my opinion, the most important thing nowadays. >>>>>>>> The main negative issue of the Latvia’s stage and music market in my opinion is the vast amount of alternative rock-music which dominates here and mostly does not give any results nor locally nor internationally. Also, a great problem is corruption in radio stations and the lack of professional music critics, which results in slick and ignorant music journalism. >>>>>>>> What I consider to be positive without question is that a considerably large number of people are into the music industry in Latvia, because Latvia is a country of music lovers, who when they sing or dance, do it affectionately. >>>>>>>> I am thinking of continuing supporting Yana Kay – she is an artist which I believe has deserved to be recognized internationally. I’ve been her producer since the very beginnings of her career in year 1995. I believe that no one else of the Latvian artists could demonstrate such international credit as Yana Kay. Being a leader of progressive sound, Yana has formed and image of a successful artist, the music of which belongs in tomorrow. She happened to appear in many foreign records since already in year 1998, in 2000 she did her debut album, and after two years – in 2002 – released an album in 2step and UK-garage style in Russian, which was the first adoption of these styles in the eastern parts of Europe. And, finally, the last and amazing album Magnetic – serves to prove that Yana Kay is a true leader and her accomplishments are not accidental. Significance is added as Yana Kay’s songs appear in the playlists of the British BBC radio 1, Kiss 100 and other radio stations of Europe and also several releases of maxi singles under the following labels: Trance Tribe, MPFS Records, Chemical records, Distorted Records, Hostile Recordings, Chicaria Records and others, as well as the usage of her works by many dj’s known worldwide: Jon O'Bir, Alucard, Markus Schulz, Tall Paul, Graham Gold, Rank 1, Marc West, John Askew, Guy Ornadel, Osamu M and others, which only proves the stability, big time success and continuous creative growth of Yana Kay both as a composer and as an artist. >>>>>>>> I believe that talented music and projects should not depend on mentality, financial contribution of promoters and on judging what is a go-go and what is not. While I am in Latvia and work there, I would like as many people as possible to share my opinion that Latvia is not just a country of the All Latvian Song Festival, when everyone sings folklore, but also a country which has a potential of being progressive in music. >>>>>>>> Included in my professional interests are: eduction of new flows of music, listening to and analysing music, tracing of recent tendencies in the worldwide club culture and dance music, reading of articles by music critics, investigation of history of music, taking part in expos, competitions and festivals, attending music clubs, theatres, museums, fine art expositions, concerts, conferences, analyses and study of music tops, study of the demands as they appear in music market, realization of leadership and organization of work at the company and with artists, writing of press releases, marketing planning, discussing of topical issues and events, meeting of the most recent achievements in techniques in the field of music, organization and staging of shows and events, commissions, regular meetings with many people, paying special attention towards understanding their needs, building new bridges and making connections, having insight in psychology, taking active part in public life. I have developed a tendency towards artistic thinking and approach, a tendency towards business-like contacts and intellectual activity connected with communication. >>>>>>>> From year 1986 until 1990 I witnessed sources of hip-hop culture, graffiti and break dance in the former USSR; I have indulged in professional break-dance myself and have also won several competitions of the whole former USSR. In year 1991 I worked as the leading choreographer in a Greek music hall Show Abantaz, but in year 1992 I staged my own show ballet called Floy Favorite Show, which was showed in Latvia, Bulgaria, and Greece for three years. I worked also as a dj in clubs of Latvia and Greece. As a director I have screened several clips of a band Fors and also for Yana Kay (song has received the One-Hundred-Pood Hit award (Stropudovij Hit) in year 1998 awarded by the Russian radio Hit FM. The clip appeared on the playlists of Russian MTV as well). I have been a member of the band Twin System, which was one of the firs Latvian music bands playing dance music in English. Twin System was produced by a British sound producer Len Davies. My hobbies include photography and design. The previous year I accomplished a unique project of an artistic calendar Riga Beauty – 2007, which is planned to be annual (www.rigabeauty.com).
