HELLO MY NAME IS PURNELL GATES I AM A PRO BOXER /MANGER. I LIVE IN GRAND RAPIDS MIPURNELL GATES BORN IN FLINT, MICHIGAN JULY 18, 1973. PURNELL GRADUATED FROM FLINT NORTHERN HIGH SCHOOL, ATTENDED FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY AND GRANDVALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY. HE WAS SEEKING A DEGREE IN ENGINEERING BUT WITH ONE SEMESTER TO GO DECIDED TO START HIS OWN MOVING COMPANY WITH THE IDEA THAT YOU CAN MAKE MORE WORKING FOR YOURSELF THAN SOMEONE ELSE. AFTER A VERY SUCCESSFUL YEAR HE CONTINUED ON IN THE MOVING BUSINESS. A FRIEND TOOK PURNELL TO A BOXING GYM AND HE NEVER LEFT. HE BOXED AMETURE FOR 2.5 YEARS, HIS RECORD AS A AMATEUR WAS 32-6. IN DEC OF 2003 PURNELL DECIDED TO TURN PROFESSIONAL AFTER HIS FIRST COUPLE OF FIGHT THE POLITICS AND CORRUPTION OF BOXING STARTED TO TAKE ITS TOOL ON PURNELL. HIS FIRST LOSS WAS A TURNING POINT IN HIS CAREER. HE REALIZED THAT THIS WAS NOT AMATEUR ANY MORE AND EVERY LOSS COUNTED. HE DECIDED TO PLAN AND PREPARE FOR EVERY FIGHT LIKE IT WAS HIS LAST. BOXING BECAME HIS LIFE. PURNELL'S PROFESSIONAL RECORD IS 13-1 WITH 11 KO'S, HE IS CURRENTLY THE UNITED INTERNATIONAL BOXING ORGANIZATION WORLD CHAMP (UIBO). ON THE MORNING OF JULY 9, 2005 HE WAS MARRIED TO VONETTA WILSON AND THEN HAD TO PREPARE FOR A FIGHT THAT SAME EVENING. A COUPLE OF PURNELL'S ASSOCIATE ASKED HIM TO HELP THEM IN THEIR CAREER AS A RESULT HE BEGAN KNOCK U OUT MANAGEMENT, ITS NOT YOUR TYPICAL MANAGEMENT COMPANY IT IS STRUCTURED TO BENEFIT THE FIGHTER FROM A FIGHTERS PROSPECTIVE FROM A BUSINESS AND FINANCIAL STAND POINT. THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE FLINT. ITS NOT THE BEST PLACE TO LIVE BUT ITS A GREAT PLACE TO BE FROM.
