Adrain Washington scored a starring role in Ridley
Scott’s "American Gangster" (2006), working along side
major Hollywood players, such as Denzel Washington and
Russel Crowe, shortly after being featured in Mario
Van Peeble’s "Hard Luck" (2006).
A New Jersey native, Adrain has seen many hard times
before finally reaching the level of success he enjoys
today. Following an unsatisfying medical school career
and time spent in the US Military, Adrian moved to New
York, in 2002, to peruse an acting career. Adrian’s
life as an aspiring actor is like a Hollywood cliche.
His pursuit began at the very bottom, with him living
in his car and even having to miss meals he could not
afford. All the while, however, this actor kept
steadfast. He believed in himself as an actor and
believed, in spite of dire times, that one day he
would meet success. After this stint of homelessness,
finally, doors began opening for this talented and
determined actor. He began to garner roles, often lead
roles, on various New York plays and independent
films.
After realizing that acting was not all that defined
him, Adrain sought to learn the ins and outs of the
film business. Beginning with production assistant, he
quickly achieved positions on various sets around New
York. Taking various classes at local film colleges
also added wood to Adrain’s film knowledge.
Now an accomplished film maker/actor/producer, his success has
come from all angles. Additionally, Adrian has had
roles in many indie projects such as Lapse (produced by Invasion
Films). Currently Adrain is talking with the winners of the 2006 ABFF(American Black Film Festival)
best film concerning their lastest project "The Promise" you can catch him this December in "Greener Grasses" produced by Me and My Muse, an Equity
Off-Broadway show, written by Subora Rashid. Adrian
is also a Producer of "Lifted" which was
written and directed by Oscar Winning film maker Randy
Dottin.
Currently, he is a finalist in the ongoing Film
Independent Project, Involve Partnering Program, in
Los Angeles. This is a program that partners
individual film makers with successful industry power
players. As a film maker, his soon-to-be first short
film “The Los Angeles Project†will star Wendell
Pierce of HBO’s "The Wire".
