Born and raised in a small farming community near Enid, Oklahoma Brian Hedges found the path to music and entertainment at an early age. “I can remember doing impersonations of singers when I was probably 5 or 6". Hedges laughs, “I was the parlor entertainment for my family and friends”. He started writing his music at 12 and started publishing his music at 13. He then started performing professionally at the age of 15. “I was blessed to have some older cousins and friends who let me start playing guitar and singing with the band. That was when I learned how to sing different harmony lines and it also afforded me the comfort of performing in front of large crowds”. Hedges moved to Nashville in 1993 where He found a great deal of support from the songwriting community. "I used to play a lot of songwriter nights and in-the-rounds in Nashville with my duet partner and phenomenal guitar player Kent Unruh. We had a unique sound and quality of writing that attracted a great deal of interest from other writers. That's when you feel like you're doing something right, when the other songwriters like your stuff". In 1997 Hedges went to work for the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Country Music Foundation. He worked his way up through the ranks until he became Manager of Museum Services. "That was a magical time for me. I was given the opportunity to work with the premiere Country Music historians and authors, along with some of the greatest names in music, film, television, sports and politics. Every day was a memorable experience". He continued honing his writing skills and found an audience for his music that went beyond the boundaries of Country Music. "I found that everyone from Country fans, to Jazz fans, to Rock fans to Heavy Metal fans were digging my songs, especially my lyrics. I learned a great deal from that period of time in my songwriting career. I learned to write for myself first, the people second, and the Music Industry last. They really have very little idea what the people want". So Hedges started his own record label and production company and started on a journey that took many twists and turns until it delivered him to his new album. "Everything in this album is me. The music speaks to the listener in a way that we, as a listening audience, have not had in a very long time. I chose Jessi Rae Tice as my producer on this project, even though she hasn't had too many major album projects to her credit, because she is quite possibly one of the best producers behind the board. I may not even be able to get her for my next album project if her future productions are a reflection of this album. I could not be happier with a musical project. If the audience loves it half as much as we did making it then we have a monster hit on our hands". Legend has it that 'Nice Guys Finish Last'. Not any more. If you meet him you will find a large heart inside this man from Oklahoma, and a passion for music and life that is seldom seen. Enjoy the journey with him, and Dare to Dream.Submitted by: KayGee Media

Influences:“I was influenced by so many different styles of music that my musical style became an eclectic mix“. Hedges' earliest influences were his grandparents. His maternal grandfather traveled around playing big band and polka music while his paternal grandmother came from a long line of singers and musicians with a gospel background. "I grew up listening to it all. When I was little I used to sit with my Grandpa in his backyard under a mimosa tree singing Louie Armstrong songs". Hedges then discovered the massive singing/performance talents of Elvis Presley. “I remember watching the '68 Comeback Special on television and thinking, I want to do that. I wanted the Gibson J200 guitar, I wanted the black leather suit, I wanted the look, the sound, everything. Like him or not, you have to admit that nobody could create a musical memory better than Elvis”. Hedges also had an older sister and brother that helped introduce him to other musical influences - Jim Croce, Bob Seger, Bread, Van Morrison, Merle Haggard, The Eagles, The Bee Gees, Steve Miller Band, Harry Nilsson and Dave Loggins just to mention a few. And songwriters like Croce, Mac Davis, David Gates, Jimmy Webb, Haggard, Hank Williams, Seger and Barry Gibb. “Did I mention that my mix of influences was eclectic?". The reason Hedges didn’t follow one particular style of music was somewhat in part due to the quote by Duke Ellington, “There’s only two types of music, Good Music and Bad Music". "I personally found that most all music is good with few exceptions". In every style of music, Hedges found inspiration and direction for his writing. Listen to his newest album and you will hear a new/old sound never before heard in popular music. It's all new material that sounds like the music you used to love. The music that you still gravitate back to when the new music leaves you cold. It’s so different that it has actually garnered it’s own genre. A Smooth mix of Soul and Country -“SOULTRY”.
