Dameeko Love Knight
aka LOVELY,Born Dameeko Love Knight on March 6, 1984, Lovely has lived what it means to OVERCOME. Raised in Canton, Ohio by her mother, Carolyn Torrence and father, Chris Knight. She is the second oldest out of 5 girls. Music has always been apart of her life. Whether it was her mother singing or her father jamming to old r&b, the influence started early. Singing became her focus shortly after her parents divorced, which was at age 14.Being very family oriented and surrounded by christian grandparents also helped in the nuturing and upbringing of this magnificent gift. Which is why singing began in church for Lovely. She sang soprano in the church choir. Her grandfather, Nacoleon Torrence, also sang and was the church pianoist. Which led to many days and nights practicing leads and hamonies to loads of songs. By now, singing is second nature and she is starting to understand her calling.At age 16, she sang in her first "Talent Show", this is also when she started engaging in different styles of music.
Mostly gospel, r&b, rap and hip-hop influenced Lovely throughout her early teenage years. Church played the biggest role in giving Dameeko the confidence to lift her voice and sing. By her senior year in high school a career in nursing became in the number one priority and singing was just a hobby.It only took a few years but shortly after high school she finally decided to take singing seriously. First, she started recording occasionally with Ohio's own superstar producer, Jaymes Ball aka 314. After catching the ear of 314, Lovely began featuring on several projects doing mostly "Hook Work". Next, she entered and won a local contest called "Massillon Idol". Captivating performance after performance led her straight through the final round and into the winner's circle. This is also where she teamed up with DILLIGAF Records of Canton, Ohio. Since the two united Lovely has began recording her first solo project. When asked about working with the DILLIGAF Family Lovely stated, "This has given me the opportunity to express my creativity and passion for music."
It's just been four months, four solo songs and about six performances later and Lovely is undeniably industry material. So I suggest that you get ready or get overwhelmed by America's new R&B Sweetheart, LOVELY!
