Why Legacy?
Good question!....Statistics show that most hard working Americans who plan to retire one day attempt to do so by age 55. These hard working Americans travel down the path of "nest egg" calculations. (i.e. how much money do I need to live comfortably during retirement.) Once all the information is tallied up, they realize they may live 20+ years after they retire and the amount of money they may need to live is a lot higher than they thought. Now what? Studies show that once this dilemma arises, most people decide to cut their requirements down and the first thing that gets the boot is......Legacy! The first variable removed from their retirement calculation is what they plan to leave their children. Interesting thought, huh? I want to help change this way of thinking, because I believe this mentality is not from God. The bible says, "A wise man leaves an inheritance for his children's children."(Proverbs 13:22) Now if the first subtraction from your retirement equation is Legacy, then how can your children's children be blessed?
Now let me bring some balance to this subject. Starting around Joshua 15:18, Caleb's daughter Ascah was urged by her husband to ask Caleb for springs of water to accompany the land she received already. The story goes on to say Caleb blessed his daughter with the upper and lower springs of water. Now what does this have to do with Legacy? Another good question. The land represents a financial legacy passed down, however the waters represent a spiritual legacy passed down. (Isaiah 44:3 talks about the Spirit of God being poured on us like water). The fact is without spiritual maturity, wealth can destroy the best of us. Don't get me wrong, God wants us to rise up and destroy the bondage of poverty over our families. However, he also wants us to become the person he can use to stop the curses that plague us and start the spiritual blessing in our family blood line while helping others return back into a blessed love covenant with Him . God desires that we pass on not only a financial legacy, but a spiritual legacy that helps your children's children to the 1 millionth power walk in the power, principles, and promises of God forever.
So back to the question I asked at the beginning....Why Legacy?....because nothing else matters!!
