I am a residential (architectural) designer, professional commercial illustrator and purveyor of Cool Hipster-Pop art, working and living in the colorful suburbs of Minneapolis, MN.Stylistically, I believe that never before or since was America as forward in the arts and design as we were during the period following World War II up until the early 70s. Everything from cars and buildings to vacuums and toasters were rendered with a sense of whimsy, color and style! With the onset of postmodernism in the 80s, America has since backslid into a 'dark age' of traditionalism and beige house McBlandness.My design work for residential application is based on my belief that
thoughtful, artistic design married with environmental responsiblilty and fun, imaginative sense of style can produce environments and places worth caring about and therefore increasing the quality of life. My work extends nationally, as I currently have projects under contruction in Mississippi and clients in Iowa and Southern California.My illustrations and artwork? Well...imagine combining vintage suburbia complete with backyard bar-b-q's and fondue parties,, midcentury modernism, Disneyland, Hanna-Barbera cartoons, the opening cartoon sequence to Bewitched!, James Bond movies, Hawaii, retro-futuristic and atomic/space-age aesthtetics, vintage surfing, skateboarding, punkrock and rockablilly 'kulture', hot-rods, monsters, comic books (superheroes and devious supervillains), b-movies, cold-war spies, voodoo, New Orleans bayous, hot-toddy-sipping ski couples, hipsters, jazz music, smoky cocktail lounges, Mardi Gras and science fiction.
