About Me

Although somewhat world traveled, Jim has lived in the Atlanta, Ga. area for the most part and now resides in St. Maarten…ahem…I mean Dallas, Ga. He started playing piano at age 5, moving on to guitar, bass and drums by age 12. As a junior in high school, he was invited to join a local rock band to play bass guitar. The band was called “The Light Brigade” with members Lou Simmons, John Tyler, Joe Davis and Brent Paxton. Brent moved away and Mike Morrow became the new drummer. “The Light Brigade” won the Atlanta Jaycees’ 1970 Atlanta Battle of the Bands and the 1970 Georgia Battle of the Bands. When drummer Mike Morrow left “The Light Brigade”, Jim became the new drummer for the next year until Uncle Sam called on him for a “short tour of duty”. After the “tour”, he played drums, toured and recorded one LP and one single 45 with the regrouped “Light Brigade”, now called “The Rock Mountain Band”, for six years then took a long hiatus from musical performance. "The Rock Mountain Band" transformed itself into "The Spies of Life" over the years and is still rocking today! Around 1996, good friend Pat Calhoun talked Jim into joining him and Steve Casey in the band they were forming. Jim started playing bass guitar again then moved to drums when the Casey band’s drummer left. In four years, Casey moved to South Carolina and the band was no more. 2000-2001 Jim contacted Larry Savage and was invited to audition with the newly formed “Totally Savage”. Jim performed and recorded four CD’s with “Totally Savage” over the next six years. His drums are on most of the tracks on the "Totally Savage" myspace. Jim retired from performing in Fall 2007.Jim has had the pleasure of performing with: Totally Savage, Larry Savage, Jonathan Holland, Linda Dixon, Darryl Fox, Chad Brown, Mike Levasseur, Tim Jones, Mike Futral, Dwight Raby, Dave Bohannon, Barry Richman, Scott Brock, Kari Connolly, Scott Stickney, Roger Shepheard, The Steve Casey Band, Steve Casey, Patrick Calhoun, Chuck Leamon,The Rock Mountain Band, The Daily Planet, The Light Brigade, Lou Simmons, John Tyler, Patty Albigese, Michael Robbins, Howard Williams, John Keenum, Bart Hartman, Joe Davis, John M.
