Carpe Diem...and The Night Will Be Great

About Me

Thanks for checking out my myspace site, but if you get a chance head over to my business site for everything real estate in North East Ohio!

I've been singing and writing songs for about 3 years, playing guitar for about 4, and have been in love with music my entire life. I'm hoping to get some feedback on my vocals from the few songs I've put on here.. the only one that's up-to-date is the first one. This song is just a vocal demo I did for a band looking for a singer... they handed me a short instrumental, some lyrics, no ideas for a melody, and asked me to go to town on it. Hope you guys like these, nothing is finished or finalized yet though "You Are My World" is close. I invite some constructive criticism and am open to any opportunity to improve! :)
So anyway, a bit about who I am:
I'm that guy you always see walking around with a smile on his face for no apparent reason. It doesn't take much to make me happy and I can usually find some way to amuse myself.. especially when I'm out with people that might not have the same sense of humor. I love to make people laugh... thought I'm not exactly the class-clown type since I don't do it for the attention. I do it because, given the choice, I think people would rather have a good time then not. Music is a huge part of my life, it always has been... only in the last 3 years did I discover I could sing well enough to possibly put some local street entertainers out of business at least... and if that's the extent of it, then so be it... I guess I've learned that nothing in life is just handed to me on a silver platter. The things most important to me are my family and friends, anything beyond that is just a luxury. I do enjoy some of the nicer things in life, but if I had a choice between a month-long backpacking trip in Europe or the latest Gucci suit.. I'd take the vacation in a heartbeat. The only things I can hold onto forever are my memories...
My moral convictions are fairly strong.. I don't steal, I won't lie (unless to protect someone), I've never been in a fight (everything that's ever to me happened finds resolution before it gets to that point), I've gambled twice in my life, I like controlling my own fate (I've been day trading for a while now and ever since I took control away from my financial manager, I've done much better and been more informed along the way), and I am a spiritual person and love God...though not a as close a follower of my family's religious beliefs in Seventh Day Adventism as I used to be.
Tired of my ramblings yet? Well, here's the last part... what I do! I've been a licensed Real Estate Agent & Realtor since late 2004. It took me forever to figure out what path to take in life, and since people seem to change their mind at least once I figured this would be a great way to get started. I've since helped people buy and sell homes in and around the Cleveland area, and even though it's a tough market all-round right now, there's always an opportunity no matter what side you're on. Because it's such a buyer's market right now though, I've gotten into a bit of investing and have since purchased a single family home, an 11 unit apartment building, and am in the process of purchasing a west side investment home. Note: to anyone thinking about purchasing rental property and hoping to make a quick buck... IT DOESN'T HAPPEN LIKE THAT haha! If you're betting everything on a quick flip, leave yourself a lot of equity to work with while the property transitions. If you sink too much in fixing it up, you can't lower the price and make it attractive if it doesn't sell quick. If you don't put enough in, it's a "fixer-upper" and you can't command full market price. See the problem? Make sure if you want to enter the business you have a plan and base it on market knowledge and your own finances. In mycase, the apartment building has been a challenge. Not only is it taking time to fix up and get rented out, but once it's rented there's absolutely no security that the tenants will continue to pay or keep the place together. If you have any worries or concerns, I offer my full knowledge of the market and my experiences to anyone curious about the business. Yes, Real Estate can be a windfall of money, but it takes good planning and the right attitude to get there. Contact me anytime on my business cell: 216-406-1772. As always, answering questions is free :)
For anyone curious, I have met that someone special who is the only girl that could steal my heart the way she did. Both of us are ambitious and individual, but we are unified in the same love for both eachother and our future family. We have a child together, our little Peanut... Jordan Victor Duqum. He was born on July 25, 2006, and is resting soundly until our reunion in heaven. And although he isn't with us today, my heart will always be with him.
Anyway, that's my deal, love it or hate it... it's who I am. I've already met a few really great people on here, and I'm looking forward to meeting many more, so don't hesitate to say hi sometime! :)

Not sure what the next step in music is...

I had a chance to talk with an old friend yesterday... he was the one that I started singing with, both a roomate and a hell of a guitar player in my first band. Our conversation wasn't long, but I s...
