Generating a sound as diverse as the twin island state of Trinidad and Tobago from which they hail, Chaos Room tore into underground rock world in first half of 2005, with a number of well received live gigs.
The experimental, post-rock tinged styling of the band particularly appeals to the listener’s darker side, as it always reminds us of the fickle realities of life. Inspirational highs soon meet brooding lows, while subdued calms are often shattered by periods of sheer intensity.
This complex tapestry of melodic soundscapes is carefully woven by the band’s four talented members. Dynamically ranged lead vocals merge flawlessly with layered guitar work, while nimble fingered bass lines lend to drums that often explode to life at a drop of the needle.
Chaos Room takes both musicians and casual listeners alike, on a musical journey. A journey whose path seemingly becomes more familiar with each encounter, but a journey whose destination ultimately remains unpredictable.
October 2006 would see a forced change to the Chaos Room line up with the departure of Zach Carpenter who left Trinidad to attend school in the USA. Luckily, before leaving, he would help in finding his replacement. Nicholas Otway proved to be exactly what was needed as he easily integrated into the band and infused a renewed urgency to the founding members.
In December 2006, the band released their long-awaited, eponymous debut EP to an overwhelmingly positive response. To get a copy of the EP send a MySpace message or email to [email protected] .
Chaos Room are due to return to the studio to work on a full length album scheduled for release in the second half of 2009. Stay tuned here for updates.
