Born and raised in the Bronx, NY. These three young men got together by chance. Not realizing at the time what a dream could mean to them let alone where it would lead them. While growing up on Moshulu Parkway and Gunhill Road, J.R. Mansanet always loved music. His Influences included such greats as Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Prince, The Jacksons and many more. There wasn't much to do other than hang out on the street corner with your friends. It was commonplace to sing on the neighborhood corner. These were the days of innocence. When you hung out on the block just to be with your friends and nothing else. Duran Ramos lived just down the block from him at Tracey Towers. Occasionally coming up to play the "Dozens" For those of you out there that don't know... Mother jokes... He was unstoppable but his talents were yet to be discovered and talented he is. Their friendship grew and in time they realized they shared the same passion for music. The first song they sang together was a song by Rick James and Smokey Robinson... "Ebony Eyes" It got the attention of the neighborhood as well as the attention of Mr. Freeze of the "Rock Steady Crew". Mr. Freeze encouraged them both and introduced them to a friend of his named CNR. Instantly they clicked and the journey began. CNR took the reins of the trio and set out on doing something in music that has never been done. To have 3 young Latin men take the music world by storm. Originally named Destiny, They rehearsed hard all day every day doing local shows and creating a buzz in the underground circuit. Not happy with the group name at the time, the guys decided that in order to make this happen, they needed another name. Something that signified who they were and what they were about, a name that would always be remembered, a name that would define them and a name was found literally by its definition... "Three related artistical works brought together as one". That name was and still is... "TRILOGY". CNR got the group an audition for Jackie Jack Records. A new independent label trying to break out in the new genre of music called Freestyle. The label was impressed with the boys and they became the first artists signed to the label. This same label was also responsible for launching the career of a young Latina who was defined by... "Chunky but funky" That extremely talented young lady was Judy Torres. Their first record Red Hot became a huge underground hit in the club circuit Thanks to DJ Little Louie Vega of the famed NYC club The Funhouse. The word got out about their stage show so much so that they were written up by Bill Board Magazine as... "The hottest performers in New York! A must see!" The demand for Trilogy was growing yet they were unable to get any airplay at the time. The group decided that it was time to go back into the studio and released a song that would change that and get them the airplay they so desired. That song was "Latin Love" As soon as it was released it was added to the Hot 103 roster. The song was an instant hit and became ... No.1 on HOT 103's Freestyle countdown in the early summer of 1988 and has since become a cult classic to all Freestyle fans. They have had several hits follow such as "Got to be Free" and "Love me for ever or love me not" Eventually, all three went there separate ways and pursued different projects and dreams but Trilogy was far from done. By adding new members such as "Angel DeLeon", "Joey Kidd" & "Darrin DeWitt Henson... Famed Choreographer.". The group joined forces with Robert Clivilles and David Cole of C&C Music Factory fame and produced such hits as "Good Times", "Do you want to get funky", "Take a Toke" and the Nuyorican anthem... "Boricua Anthem". For the original members, nothing would be as rewarding or as memorable as what they started. Now many years later, CNR, Duran Ramos and J.R. Mansanet are poised to make a comeback and reunite once again for the first time in over 15 years. In song... In dance... and in the spirit that first began this movement... an anthem... A BORICUA ANTHEM!!! Stay tuned for more updates fans. When they make their come back, you'll know it!
Preciosa
"Preciosa te llevo dentro... Muy dentro di mi corazón. Y mientras más pasa el tiempo. En tí se vuelca mi amor. Porque ahora es que comprendo... Porque ahora es que comprendo... Que aunque pase lo que pase yo seré puertoriqueño. Yo seré puertoriqueño. Por donde quiera que ande, ooohhh. Por que lo llevo en la sangre por herencia de mis padres. Y con orgullo repito. Yo te quiero Puerto Rico! Yo te quiero Puerto Rico!"
