Hello, I've been writting songs and playing music since 1980 which was from the age of 14. I've always lived in Stoke On Trent and my first experience of being in a band was when some local Punk Rockers called 'The Filth' threatened me with violence if I wouldn't sing for them and help them write some words. Because I was afraid (they were bigger and older than me) and was into some punk bands I joined and immediately I got 'the bug'.A year or two later I had slowly progressed by writting, busking and jamming. Eventually, I co-formed an embrionic band with school friends. After several name changes this band became 'Days of Heaven'. These days were a great learning experience especially in regards to live performance and recording (at subsound) but unfortunately, for what ever reason and even though we worked hard (and played hard), we never seemed to do enough. This frustration and frictions with my old school friends in the band resulted in several temporary departures until eventually it sadly disintigrated. This was to become the pattern of my involvement in bands for the next 20 years. Not a unique story but nevertheless true. Before Days of Heaven finally fizzled out I had the great fortune of meeting a lot of other musicians and characters who were involved, one way or another, in the 'local band scene' (i dislike this term).Chief among these individuals was a guy called Steve (later to be called Nick). In essence he became a Guru to me, and others, and is the most important influence on my life outside of my family. He instilled in me an appreciation of Beauty, Parrodox, Universality and Existence. He also taught me how to create and express; always with the imperitive oath that what is learned and enjoyed should be passed on too others at every opportunnity. A noble cause indeed and one I will eternally hold dear.Other bands I joined and co-formed are 'The Burnhearts', 'Zoomabooma', 'Pigeon', 'Union Thought', 'Sonic Particles' and 'Gem'.The last band I was involved with 'The Famous Inhalers' lasted longer than any since 'Days of Heaven'. I probably did more gigs and recording with this group of people than all the others put together. However, it still wasn't enough. I lost faith in bands and decided to go solo. This is where I am today. It's a tragic story in some ways because working with other people is the best way to live the tennents of Nick the Guru. In my defence however I can state that I've always been unique and original with my music (as much as you can be) and I do help other people develope their unique and original music through jamming and my home recording set-up.Where do I go now? I'm planning a new recording of some new, and a few old, songs; hopefully in collaboration with individual musicians.Love, Light and Life,Arthur Righteous
