Peace, Love, and Understanding

About Me

Curvaceous and sultry, with an old spirit. I love the arts, and admire soulful music, everything from Prince's sexuality to Sade's heartache. I want to travel, and inhale the offerings of new experience: exotic spices, bright fabrics, bold paintings, vintage crafts, and eccentric people. Spiritual, but not religious - on a never-ending adventure, with suspicions that I am the reincarnation of a rogue or gypsy in a previous life. Described by others as giving, eccentric, loving, innovative, intelligent, and curious. Fetish for all things feather or feline.Current Events:I am currently a homemaker, but I would like to return to the workforce in January 2008 after spending at least the next six months with my newborn son. On March 10th, I gave birth to my first child Montgomery. He was born quite prematurely at approximately 27 gestational weeks. Currently, he's doing well. He's approximately 12 lbs now and getting chubbier by the minute. Also recently, I've received my certification/registration to practice massage therapy and successfully started my own business. Self-employment is SWEET! I am looking forward to my new career, and believe I have found my calling in life: to be a holistic health care practitioner.

Books:

Some would say I'm a packrat, but I prefer book collector. I buy a book, read half and have bought another before I've finished the other. The largest sections of my library include pagan/wiccan/witchcraft selections, metaphysics/spirituality/world religion, self-help/creativity workbooks, and books dedicated to fine arts and traditional crafts. Not much fiction on my shelves with the exception of erotica, fantasy/sci-fi, feminist writings, and the classics.

Heroes:

Cheesy to say, but seriously, my mother. My mother is among the crème de la crème of mothers. While working as a public school teacher, her creative use of a shoestring budget provided me with the things I both needed and wanted as a child. For example in 2nd grade, my school organized an international fair where each class presented information about foreign countries complete with costuming and cuisine; my class was assigned Japan. A store-bought costume was out of the question, so I was at a loss for costume options. My creative, resourceful mother pulled down our kitchen curtains made of peach colored taffeta and brought out the sewing machine. The next day, I arrived in class donning an elegant kimono of her fashioning, the only kimono costume among my classmates. I felt as special as a geisha. I learned an important lesson from her. All the things I need and want are within my grasp. Just be creative and work with what you have; sometimes, you will find you have more than enough.
