About Me

A fresh new art rock band, blending styles from within the rock genre and beyond, including elements from celtic and other folk music. A great deal of time dedicated to composing and rehersing has culminated in a solid and distinctive sound. The group is constantly nourished by each members involvement in individual musical endeavours
Prajna have been active in the Melbourne Live music seen since 2002 and have grown a great fan base during this time. They continually attract crowds from all genres including folk listeners to progressive rock and alternative crowds.Their dynamic stage presence as well as there tight and explosive set keeps the listeners mesmerized by where the music takes them. In 2006 Prajna completed their first fully produced self titled EP.
Beat magazine EP review 6/6/07 page 69, writer James Riddley writes: Flames lick at the monolithic menhirs of Stone Henge as shadows dance through the smoke.Celtic rhythms resonate and offerings are made. Chanting in ancient tongues to the beat of animal skin drums, the spiritual beggars beckon the morning sun. Sleeping wolves begins Prajnas call. Mantra-like vocals, flute and mandolin combine with heavy electric bass and guitars to create an east meets west style approach, reminiscent of tea party and Jeff Martin’s solo material. Starting off with more of a northern English folk feel is ‘In time alone’,inspiring images of Yorkshire’s dales and Moores, rolling hill, lakes and mist. In sink with the cover art work of canyons and islands, Prajna conjure a very earthy, elemental sound without meandering into sleep. Granted winds of Karma is slower, but the diversity in instrumentation and vocal harmony’s keep the listen interesting over the near ten-minute journey. Art rockers and roots lovers may find common ground with Prajna, an intriguing band that Europe will no doubt adore.
Guitar 9 magazine LA writes Romeo’s rhythm backing has a grinding, heavy tone throughout the tracks which is balanced off by acoustic guitar in many cases making for a dynamic sonic blend.Petruccelli is a very good vocalist as welland the musicianship is at a high level throughout … Progressive music fans need to pay attention as Prajna tracks more material in the future..
